As far as I can tell it is the rage that blinds people. They get so furious at these kinds of monsters that they refuse to think. They want no complications getting in the way of simple animal revenge. They want to punish but not see the insanity of it, that the person they want to punish is profoundly damaged and sick, and that he or she got that way because of brutality and punishment as a child. We were all brutalized to tow the line and want more brutality for those who saw so much of it they were destroyed. Hate wants to punish hate and thereby creates more of it, endlessly. This is so simple but you have to know how badly we were damaged to feel any sympathy. Self hate makes folks very mean. The contempt we have for others in merely a reflection of the contempt we have for ourselves, and for that beautiful little child in us that was destroyed when it stepped out of line. He who does not forgive others condemns himself. There is no forgiveness for those who do not forgive. That is the reason it is commanded.

Why should a person such as this, if deemed guilty, be allowed to live?

If they are not fit for society, be rid of them. Unless you think there's some chance of a wrongful conviction? If found innocent later, would a life in jail, or castration be any better?
