and lol--is that a drum magazine?

Looks like it.

iirc M-15s and likely AR-15s can be used effectively on area targets (think trucks that are part of convoys and other such objects) 800 meters away.

I'm sure the police and security have valid reasons to check up on people carrying such firearms near and in an airport. If they didn't and something happened we'd be blaming the police and airport security for letting something happen.

I own firearms. I have 2nd amendment rights.

I also have some common sense.

This is just asking for trouble ...

Yup, let's not point the finger at the guy doing the shooting... The responsibility rests solely with whoever commits the crime, not all the millions or normal, law-abiding citizens (and resident aliens for that matter) who enjoy exercising their rights. Why are you blaming the everyone but the actual criminals?
Because Frank is an idiot. He sucks up the cool aid and doesn't use the brain cells he has left. I wonder what's driven his agenda?

Once again: I don't own a gun, I don't want one, and I don't anticipate ever wanting one. That said...

Does anyone in here doubt that if he had been black the cops would have gunned him down without hesitation? Man, I live in the metro Atlanta area. I may have to deal with this jackass some day.

Here! Me. This guy. Right here.

I doubt it.

I am about 15 minutes from that very airport and the town (ATL is in College Park) is majority black. Few who plan to do harm would telegraph it by carrying the weapon out in the open. The police know this.

Who do think it's the faulty here? the Moron that carries the gun or the state mother F****** legislators that make possible this laws and give cover to this bullshit, carrying heavy guns at will in public places?and you see Police following people that are entitle to their rights of carrying heavy weapons, the police should go and hassle whoever gave permission to do this.
and i also agree if it was an Arabian look a like that did this, carrying a heavy gun on the airport i bet you the police would act and ask questions later.

No wonder it has happened very frequently, there has been lunatics that went to schools or public places with heavy weaponry and starts killing at random, who's fault is this?the NRA and the government.
The whole point is to normalize it to prevent over-reactions to other people who might legitimately need to carry their weapon.

Like this guy?
Hillsborough deputies arrested a man who spotted someone with a gun, followed him into a Walmart, and tackled him. The problem? The man with the gun had a concealed weapons permit, and the man who rushed him didn't call 911 or alert store security.

According to the sheriff's office, Michael Foster, 43, saw Clarence Daniels, 62, in the Walmart parking lot with a gun holstered under his coat.

Foster followed Daniels into the store, put him in a choke-hold and brought him to the ground, the sheriff's office said. He then started yelling that Daniels had a gun.

A struggle ensued, with Daniels yelling that he had a permit. Security detained both men until deputies arrived.

They confirmed Daniels had a permit for the gun, and arrested Foster.

He is charged with one count of battery.
Exactly.

Guy does something for attention, mad when he receives attention.
Was he? I see the word "harassed," but describing it that way doesn't mean he was mad.

Just because you have rights doesn't mean they should be flaunted. If I ever do get issued a carry permit, I will only ever carry concealed. No need to start a battle that one probably couldn't finish.
I don't think it's "just because." I think they are attempting to normalize it so that authorities don't over-react in other, less controlled, situations.

I like to see how this country has become a bunch of Caitlyn's.

Like someone else said, nothing to see here, carry on.

So he wants to "normalize" this so the next time the cops won't pay no attention...

Until the next time it's an ISIS wanaby with a plan to kill dozens. So the cops don't pay no attention and bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!!!

Yep, we need to desensitize the cops to this...

am i missing something? "gun":

1.a weapon consisting of a metal tube, with mechanical attachments, from which projectiles are shot by the force of an explosive; a piece of ordnance.
2.
any portable firearm, as a rifle, shotgun, or revolver.
3.
a long-barreled cannon having a relatively flat trajectory.
4.
any device for shooting something under pressure:
a paint gun; a staple gun.

That's very true, which makes CZroe's "desensitization" comment even more ignorant. Face it, this gent was pretty much trying to provoke a response, a response that was completely justified and expected.

I say expected because in GA, while it's legal to open carry like he was, he had to be permitted to carry in an airport, so he was quite cognizant of the fact that open carrying an AR-15 would indeed provoke some sort of response by the police at the airport. Of course, if the police had done nothing at all, he'd probably be railing all over about the lax security at the airport vis a vis someone openly carrying a rifle there.

What else did he want or expect, given today's environment of school shootings, theater shootings, etc.?

Is that a random picture or did you deliberately not get a CCO or ACOG for your rifle? I like the CCO. I love the ACOG.

Oh gawd, please don't say CCO. This is a googled image, but I agree the ACOG is my fav.

Yes, but with a difference...

If the cops and security are "normalized" to guys coming into an airport open carrying an AR or AK or whatever and fail to pay enough attention to him the BG will have more time to cause harm.

Mark my words, this is going to happen and likely before the next election.

Bad idea is a bad idea!

And when this does happen I as a gun owner will be at greater risk of new laws that limit my right to own guns.

Terrible idea is a terrible idea!
