Something isn't adding up. 2 hours when he gets home. He obviously needs to eat and take a shower so that leaves a hour to sleep. I'm sure the guy makes a hell of a walk and all but the 21 miles isn't feasible.

maybe he sleeps on the bus?

I'm sure if the story is true he sleeps every where. Including falling asleep while walking or talking or whatever. 2 hours of sleep a night would be torture and I don't believe any human is capable of living a functional life doing so. Especially when said individual walks 20 miles in a day.

Is there more to his story? Like he has a child who receives dialysis across the street from his house, or maybe his bedridden parents live down the block? SOMETHING?
No, the story is a contrived one generated to create outrage in you. It succeeded.

Another question for you. Why do poor people live in areas where other poor people live?

Outrage? Over what? That someone would rather spend 10-12 hours a day commuting instead of finding a closer job? I don't get too upset about dumb people, but I will point out when I think they're dumb.

The first time I saw an article about this, it made it seem he actually walks 21 miles. Now another story claims he walks 8-10 out of the 21.

Hrm. I don't know if I'm buying this whole story. 2 hours of sleep per day, walking more hours than you are working. It can get really, really cold there. Enough that walking 13 miles would probably kill anyone.

Its a 21 mile COMMUTE

8 miles to work and 13 miles back, something like that.

He also takes the bus part of the way.

Its longer on the way back because the bus routes are worse later in the day.

Evidence # 23489579832745 the internet makes you dumb.

great determination, but 2 hours of sleep and having no time for anything else? What kind of life is he choosing for himself?

Also, how did a member of the press get wind of this to do a story on him to begin with?

How many people are laughing at this guy, driving to work, driving back home, then driving to the YMCA or some other gym where they then proceed to walk 10 miles on a treadmill? :p

He doesn't walk half the distance people think he does, and could have bought a bike if he wanted, but instead choses to walk. All those donating just got scammed, and don't even know it.

I have to walk 7 lightyears back and to work every day, so please donate the 700 trillion dollars I need to develop a warp-capable spaceship!

hmm
Although walking speeds can vary greatly depending on a multitude of factors such as height, weight, age, terrain, surface, load, culture, effort, and fitness, the average human walking speed is about 5.0 kilometres per hour (km/h), or about 3.1 miles per hour (mph).
7 hours walking each day ?

and didn't think of stealing a bike?

The commute is 23 miles EACH WAY. He walks 21 miles total each day, in addition to riding the bus.

If the total distance was just 21 miles and he walked the entire distance at a reasonable pace of 3 MPH, then he'd spend only 7 hours commuting, not the 10-12 hours that is claimed.

Yup.

I suppose the article could be "man takes 10 years to figure out bicycle better than walking"

:awe:

I used to ride my bicycle 20 miles round trip to work and back. Did that for 2.5 years... where's my money?

I find it disheartening that when somebody posts a story like this, the ATOT people who collect food stamps and are on welfare do their best to discredit the story of this man and his getting to work without a car.....using public transit and his own 2 feet!

Why the need to discredit everything that is posted?
The story is 100% true!

Now lets address a bicycle -- not the safest at night riding through the "projects" or riding in the snow.

Lets see then you try to discredit his job?? I don`t get that -- the man is black. Jobs are hard to find. He has never missed a day or been late to work! So what`s is the freaking problem? Why attempt to make fun of the man for not finding another job closer to home?
Perhaps that is all there was and perhaps he is thankful to the employer for just hiring him!!

This goes without saying -- all the haters and dis creditors and doubter need to just stop this nonsense......

I'm all for helping the guy looks like a hard worker, but they should have a cap on this stuff. I remember the Arizona mom who kept her kids in the car during an interview. They poured money on her cause and she ends up being an ass and spending that money stupidly.

I'd guess 0.

10 miles is a long freaking distance to walk on a treadmill. It would take some ~3 hours on the treadmill.

It's the internet! :D

Why would you expect something different? Didn't you know that every story is a conspiracy? Every fact a lie!

This guy has been at the same job for many years? He doesn't have $1m saved yet? What's wrong with this loser?
