deep blue kind of cheated anyways, as they had programmers tweaking the code after every move

I'm surprised they allowed something like that.

This game, did they have a certain time period. Think they will fix all the errors in the computer programming and maybe it will win if there is a next time?

Realtime??

ACtually, to my knowledge, they tweeked some varaibles after each match. Not during the match. Basically adjusted to the opponent. That not AI, now is it! I aghree with this posters concept as far as that goes. The true AI would be to adjust to the opponent on it's on, on hte fly. Maybe give the computer the oppenentns move list for the past 100 games.

That is what they did. Tweak it after every match.

What is wrong with that? Just like football teams review footage to learn from mistakes. The programmers help the machine play a game that will have a better chance at winning the game the same way a football coach would calls plays to help his team have a better chance at winning.

A Computer is only as smart as its programmer (to those of us running anything from MS - uh oh! ;)), cold-hard logic won't always win, it lacks what smart human minds are good at, reason and foresight.

I can't beat chessmaster 8000 on the easiest level although I never tried. I suck at chess.

no, i'm pretty sure they tweaked it during the match.
