i'd like to see the same outrage for the millions of animals that get slaughtered every year.

I judge people who harm animals based on the reason they do it. If it's because they like seeing other creatures in pain, they're assholes. If it's for practically any other reason, I'm fine with it. I'd be ok with euthanizing that very cat if the local cat population was getting out of control, but hurting it for your own amusement is another story.

Defense lawyer William Hair said Robinson has "a good job" that he's held for about two years.

Hair also admitted he had not seen the sick footage, but nevertheless insisted it's "unclear who is in the video."

evidently his lawyer also needs to be shot.

I find it that you are comparing two different situations.
Under normal circumstances, animals for food consumption are killed as quickly as possibly, not tortured to death. Kicking a chicken (like that cat) that is about to be slaughtered is torture. Killing a chicken quickly is just preparing food. Kicking animals is just cruel, even the cow, chicken, lamb, pig that you are going to eat.

If you want to do something about killing animals for food, just eat small portions of meat and not every day. There are a lot of vegetables that have the same texture as meat, for example mushrooms like the Agaricus bisporus.
