Does anyone want to take bets on how long Adam lives?

The premise of this show: you know how some restaurants have a challenge where if you eat the 8 pound steak within an hour, you get a free meal & t-shirt? The host of the show, Adam, travels around the country to take on all these challenges.

I've never watched before last night, but nothing else was on. It's like watching a train wreck - they had an all-night marathon, and I couldn't change the channel. Last night, in the 4 episodes I watched, Adam ate:

1. a 7 pound hamburger & fries (lost)
2. a 72 oz steak & all the sides (won)
3. a 30" all meat pizza (half of it, with a partner eating the other half) (lost)
4. 3 super stuffed grilled deli sandwiches (won)

slammin!

I've seen it and I like it. The guy sure can eat but his cholesterol must be in the low 500's.

On a side note, this makes me wish that all programming was just available "on demand". Because I'd probably watch 1-2 shows of this and enjoy it. But no way that I'd go so far as to program the DVR.

should have contracted Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi.

Or bring over Japanese eating competition, preferably subbed.

Adam's a lightweight. He can't finish his food half of the time. They should just contract a bear.

Some of those challenges are just massive amounts of food. The hot wing one looked do-able since it was just the heat and not really the quantity (only 6 wings). He did that one without too much trouble, just a lot of sweat and tears.

I like the curry one where the guy cooking it had to wear a full face gas mask

Its like not only is he eating huge amounts of unhealthy food but he's also eating other foods that are so spicy they have to be giving him one serious ulcer.

I get hungry just thinking about that show.

As for how long he lives, I'd say Mid 40s he'll have is first heart attack.

We have no way of knowing if he keeps it down, do we? ;)

I saw a few episodes last night, one where he ate that 2.5 pound Dagwood sandwich plus a pound of fries. Only 15% of the people who attempt it pull it off in the 30-minute time limit. He had 10 minutes to spare.

The guy can eat, no doubt about it.

He has said in interviews that when he's not taping for the show, he eats EXTREMELY healthy to counteract the awfulness of a taping session.

Yeh, with the way he eats you'd think he'd be huuuuuuuuge, but he doesn't seem to have that big of a gut on him.

I just hope that after he ate that 72 oz steak that he hurled off camera.

72oz steak is pretty easy, IMO. Did it before w/ the sides. Then again, I can eat most of a whole Costco pizza.

It's got to be hard on the digestive system.

I once ate a Suicide Curry at an Indian restaurant in Christchurch. That thing was fucking ridiculous, but I scored a free t-shirt and got my name on the wall at the restaurant for finishing it. Taking a piss the next morning was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I never knew spicy food could make your piss feel like lava.

I never thought that was possible either...until I read your post. Was it at least tasty?

I finished the Phaal Curry @ Brick Lane Curry House in NYC... my piss wasn't transformed into lava but that night my stomach felt like it there were fire ants biting me from the inside.

Lava flows the next day....

I must admit, I watched it lastnight too.
Chesnut and Kobayashi could've taken on that 30" pizza and won the $250. easy!

They were saying that over 400 people (teams of 2) have attempted the challenge, but no one has won yet.

Yes. I love Indian food and I love very, very hot food. I enjoyed it very much, although I was sweating profusely and my fingers and toes were numb by the end of it. It's not the type of curry I would eat casually, but it was fun to do and it's neat to be able to say I've done it.

Is that supposed to be special? I go from dinner to lunch every day on normal meals. If I ate a 72oz steak I'd have to skip an entire day THEN eat lunch.
