My new components are coming from Newegg today. I've been clicking the package tracking link about every ten minutes.

Athlon 64 X2 3.1GHz
MSI K9N2 MB
4G RAM (OCZ Reaper)
EVGA 9800 512M
Raidmax Smilodon
Zerotherm CPU cooler
fans

Gotta go check UPS.com again.

Funny, I saw the specs and said the same thing.

I actually checked the date of the OP wondering if someone bumped an old post >< heh.

I just ordered a rig from newegg too and can totally sympathize with how the OP feels, I haven't received shipping confirmation yet though. sigh.

I remember waiting to recieve Karnov for our crappy computer when I was a kid.
Seemed like a lifetime then.
I'm patient now.

I can't wait until my money from my dead uncle's cousin's brother's son who was a king in Nigeria to get here so I can build an awesome 16 core machine!

Not the parts I would have chosen with that budget, but congrats anyway.

I've gone into work during a day off to wait for UPS. End up leaving at 4:30 only to get a call from a coworker when I get home that UPS came. Oh well, ended up charging the day instead of using vacation time while doing nothing all day.

2.5G dualcore Intel vs 3.1G dualcore AMD. I'm confused as to where the lots more power comes in to this...

Me too.
Am waiting on a Nikon D40 from Newegg.
According to UPS tracking it should arrive this afternoon.
The guy normally arrives about an hour from now, but this is the Xmas season and those poor bastards are worked harder and harder every day.

Think I should give him a Christmas card and a thank-you?

EDIT:
JUST GOT IT!!

Looks like Intel succeeded in getting people to think that clock frequency is the end all be all back during the Prescott days :D...

Core 2 broke that trend a few years ago.

You really need to read benchmarks....the x2 is really old at this stage. The Phenom II is coming out soon and that might give Intel a run for it's money but otherwise you just purchased a CPU that could only beat the Pentium D from 3-4 years ago.

Newegg should offer a service where they put a GPS tracker in your package that is updated every minute. Something tells me quite a few customers on newegg would be willing to pay for that.

=) If they really wanted to make money, they would offer it as an add-on service after the package shipped. They'd have to package up the GPS beacon with each shipment but I'm sure that impatient people like me would succumb to the temptation.

Computer arrived. I like the Smilodon case- the fold-out MB tray makes life a lot easier. Prime95 is running now.
