Dang, thats almost a blatant copy of a MBP. I gotta admit, it does look nice though.
HP needs some AA on those images.. haha

HP did solve the problem that others seem to not get, it has individual LEDs for the keyboard keys so the backlit is bright and uniform. However, Apple has been doing this with their MBP 2008. The positive side is that maybe this will get other window laptops better backlit keyboards.

It looks like a duck. It walks like a duck. But... no duck here. Move on...
I remember Yugo auto inc was thinking of making their next car look like BMW.
But the design guy never got to work to make it happen.
His Yugo broke down in the drive way...

Wow, that is a huge size increase for the trackpad compared to the "Elitebook" I just received from my employer. The hardware design on the elitebook is a joke. The keyboard has almost no resistance so it is fat-finger city for me. The trackpad is no better than the Dell D630's which was my old work laptop. And the keyboard light is just cheesier than a jack in the box taco. I hope the macbook pro clone is much better.

That's a very refreshing design but I don't think they should put number pads on a laptop as it decentralizes the whole screen and trackpad. It doesn't make sense.

My laptop has a number pad, and I don't even notice that they keyboard is off-center.

On the other hand, when I'm on a laptop without a number pad I certainly notice that it's missing, and I hate it.

So if the laptop is big enough to add a number pad, there's no reason not to include it.

It isn't as bad as the previous Envy systems. Those were full on carbon copies of the MacBook Pros.

Some big things get me, features that had they been implemented by Apple (and one of them was) would never have been done in as inelegant a way.

Exhibit A: What's that little button doing there?

My point here is that if you already have this cool light up al-u-min-ee-um knobby thing, why not, and I am just putting this out on the porch to see if the cat licks it up, have the user press it down to mute/unmute. You can remove the mute button and the little light all in one go.

Exhibit B: See that line there on the trackpad?

That is a little rubber/plastic strip thing based on the videos available on engadget. That means that as you are trying to utilize the extra space they gave you on the trackpad, you get to bump into that thing. all. damn. day. Also, what is that little thing in the upper left corner? Something tells me that will let you de-activate the trackpad, but why doesn't it do so automatically and intelligently like, i don't know, the source material that they are ripping off of?

And finally, Exhibit C: This needs no explanation

Yeah, I think those are just minor details that HP didn't think of when producing the system. In the video's HP says that its multitouch trackpad is much better and advance, but I'm skeptical.

I don't get why every manufacturer feels the need to put a line, strip, barrier, scroll section, on the damn track pad. Its really annoying.

Yeah, that has annoyed me for years. Like we dont know what up-down-left-right is. Anyway, yes, its a nice design. maybe its a ripoff, but its nice anyways. BUT, WTF did the not put speakers on the display? I hate that crap. I have a MBP and HP Elite 8930 and the speakers face up. Why cant the have the speakers forward firing so we can actually hear them?
