Man these 1800+ T-breds are really nice!

Mine came unlocked. Have it up to 1.83 GHz (PR 2200+) from starting 1.52 GHz (PR 1800+) at default voltage (1.5V) - temp 27C per ASUS Probe with an SLK-800 and some Thermagic paste. Been playing UT2003 for hours. This thing won't even break a sweat. I'm just guessing here but since Palomino's end at 2100+, maybe all these t-breds A's are good for at least 2200+ speeds. I'll keep pushing and update as I test.

heheh I love my 1800+ but I never OC... I should though ... but I'm happy with my 10994 madonion score... when my games start sucking I think that'll be the time to OC. 🙂

What board are you using? What are the markings on the chip? Seems like you might get a Rev B.

Possibly Newegg since they are advertising Tbred 1800+'s. 🙂

I would think he has the "A", and not the "B".

I've use my 1700+ TBred at 1833MHz since its locked and I only have the stock fan on it.

It hit 41ºC last night in the middle of six hours of MPEG1 encoding.

Quesitions answered:

The mobo: ASUS A7N8X

Chip Markings: AXDA1800LT3C
AIUGA0241MPM

Bought from: Newegg - $69

Is the 27C for real: Maybe not...in the BIOS it reads 35C - 36C at idle...i think ASUS Probe is screwed.

Will the SLK-800 fit on an nForce mobo: Yes. Fits on the A7N8X with room to spare.

Download Motherboard Monitor.

I wouldnt be suprised if it would go higher, heck my 1600+ palo hits 1.85Ghz at default voltage. Thoose prob run a bit cooler tho 🙂

Let us know how high to get it. I want it but I want to get at least around 2ghz or I am going to get the 2400+.

Pardon me for having to ask this but aside from cooler temps due to smaller die size what are the benefits of the T-breds over Palominos? And should I wait for Barton or grab one of these cheap T-breds (if there is significant improvements over the Palominos)? My current chip is AthlonXP 1900+ (Palomino).

That's it man, cooler temps, lower voltage, higher o/c!

Just to update....currently running 1.83 GHz (2200+) at 1.55V. Seems to be stable. Will run a little more Sandra CPU burn in before I go further.

Well, I just found out my darn chip isn't perfectly stable at 1833MHz. Had to go back to 1650MHz (150fsb) because the memory is acting screwy. Still not a bad overclock. I may end up trying to unlock the multipliers above 12.5X. Anyone know if its possible on TBreds?

Just for kicks I put my 1800+ Palomino in this board to compare. It too can do 150fsb without a hiccup, which makes it faster using this POS memory. However, it runs 48ºC idle without an overclock, mid-50's when overclocked to 150fsb and mid-60's under a strain. Clearly the TBred is running a hell of alot cooler!

dumb question really, but how do I tell between a Palomino and T-bred? They just Athlon XP on everything. and finally which one should i get? I plan to get the A7N8x or the Epox when it comes out provided it has the Soundstorm APU.

Thanx ppl.

Well, I did some reading and I'm not going to be getting a T-bred. I'm waiting for the Barton with 333MHz fsb and 512KB L2 cache! I might not even upgrade from my trusty Epox 8K3A+.

Well it got a bit hotter here today...ambient temps went up about 10C-12C (to about 75F) and man did this T-Bred not like it. With 1.92 GHz @ 1.60V temps went up to low 50's idle and lock-up's galore under stress. There was even one hair-raising moment when they system would not boot...had to let it cool off for a few minutes. Well, I'm back down to 1.83 @ 1.60 where I will stay for the time being... Now for some FSB o/cing.
