Man, the Weather on the I-5 in Oregon is bad

My dad is stuck in his Car on the I-5 North of Roseburg, Freezing rain came down like mad, his says many cars ditched or wrecked going down a hil backwards...

He managed to get his car pulled off on the side of the road.... though

BTW I was up in NorCal almost to oregon on the 5 earlier this year and went through some nasty rains that just dump water...luckily no stupid drivers around me that don't know how to handle a car in rain. Nobody where I live would have survived...they just can't drive in rain.

I have to salt the parking lots,and roads at my work,
when we have crappy weather. Ugh.

We had snow.and freezing rain Friday.

My side street is almost a skating rink,and part of my back yard IS.

About 10 minutes after posting that, the sleet started falling. Now it's snowing and very windy.

I experienced a similar situation on 5 near Mt. Shasta years ago. Driving in the ice and snow sucks.

This is a pretty good bout of ice. I have pics on my site of roads with 1" of ice over them. Fun stuff to drive on, even in a 4x4 truck.

Edit: they just announced on the radio that most of the freeways in Portland are now closed.
🙁 Good thing I got most of the errands i needed ran done today before it started.

Yep, ugly today. I got about 1" of dry snow on the ground at my house, and now it's freezing rain on top of it. Cold wouldn't be so bad except for that damn bone-chilling 30mph east wind straight out of the gorge we've had the last few days.
