JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - A man accidentally shot himself Tuesday night at the Jupiter Lanes Bowling Alley located on Maplewood Drive.
The man's own gun accidentally discharged, injuring him, said Jupiter Police Officer Adam Brown.
Several witnesses said the gun was in the bowler's pocket when it went off terrifying other players.
The man was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries Brown said.
He will not face any charges according to police.

Funny (luckily no one else was injured) and stupid... maybe we don't really need gun control but "idiot control" which so far is quite impossible as they will (and have) infiltrate(d) every aspect of life and try to ruin something for everyone else.

Coming from someone that is completely pro-second ammendment - I always find it hilarious when gun owners think they are too good for the safety switch. As if the safety is a toy for the kids or something.

Not every firearm has a safety. Most revolvers don't. But yes, if it's there, use it!

You don't want a safety on a self defense gun. You want it to go off when you pull the trigger.

This wasn't an "accidental discharge", it's negligence. Probably wasn't in a proper holster and just stuck in his pocket. Stupid.

Is there any explanation on how it went off? It generally takes a lot of mechanical force to lift the hammer and then release it. It shouldnt "just happen" while bowling or jogging or even bouncing on a trampoline.

Trigger was probably caught on something and movement squeezed it. That's why you never carry one without a holster, even "pocket guns" should be in a holster.

If this guy hit himself somewhere vital. Idiot control is in action. Like the story about two drunks from a month ago. The guy shows his wife or GF how to use a gun while drunk and there is a round chambered and she shoots and kills him.

Seriously? Shows what I know about guns :p

I thought it was pretty much a given rule for any modern era (ex: last 20 years) gun.
Many people who choose to carry revolvers carry with the hammer on an empty chamber for this reason, although that's not fool proof and limits you to four or five rounds (to the relief of bystanders, generally.) But Spidey's right, only an idiot conceal carries a handgun without a proper holster. Otherwise you either endanger yourself or the gun is not immediately available for action at need.

so, was the bowling ball standing it's ground?
:D

It cut its eyes at me - what you you have done?

Here's a man who brought a gun to a gunfight with a bowling ball and STILL lost. Court-ordered mandatory "L" tattoo on forehead.

Florida isn't New York. One state is free, the other is not.

I am very "pro gun", but "accidental discharges" absolutely should have criminal repercussions.. If you want to carry, you have the responsibility to do so without jeopardizing the safety of everyone around you.. If you are too fucking stupid or lazy to do this, then you should not carry..

Having a gun in your pocket while bowling falls under the "too fucking stupid" category in my book.
