No one cares because despite all the dirty, underhanded tactics employed by the right they still lost. Any investigation would just put the dems up even further.

I don't think there can be much of a right/left bias in a mayoral race for a town of 80 people.

I am still waiting for the first reason why we should NOT have a paper trail.
Despite all the threads on electronic voting NO ONE has put forth a reason why we should not have them.

Because there's no good reason not to have a paper trail. Are you under the impression that there is a single person on this board that disagrees with you on this topic? By my observation every single person posting here agrees that electronic machines should have a paper backup.

LMAO tactics such as what? Do you honestly think voters can be "scared away"? Let me guess, you probably still think black voters are disenfranchised/scared away at polls in the south. Are black people even scared of white people nowadays? Or are you mad they only got to vote once in FL?

Anyways, e-voting sucks. The proponents of the machines are mainly the people who created the damn things. Anyone with any computer knowledge, especially the people on this message board, should NOT want these machines. A computer can be hacked. There is always a way. Data can always be lost or manipulated. There is no 100% secure site/database in the world. Our own government sites have been hacked before, and data stolen. I do not trust e-voting.

This story here should be enough to convince the populace to demand paper ballots. It is absolutely amazing at how the salience of these matters does not seem to cause outrage in the American populace.

It's very sad indeed.

Obviously this guy forgot to pay for his votes. Oh well.

Since the Dems won so many seats, they must have paid well.

He probably spoiled his ballot. If he had the ability to vote correctly, he might have picked up a couple more votes.

Wow, so are you finally admitting that Dems are just as corrupt as Republicans?

Didn't we end up with these machines because of Dems? Something about paper ballots being too confusing?

in a town of 80 people, why did they even get an electronic voting machine. isn't that a complete and utter waste of money.

Paper ballots and they can hand out the result in 5-10 minutes tops.

It's not just for local voting. State and congressional elections were held with that machine too.

I know but still just for 80 people, its a waste. 80 ballots to tally by hand is not difficult. At best they should just have an optical scanner.

In the best scenario this is proof that voting computers aren't easy to operate (like in the Bush vs. Kerry Diebold joke: "Do you not want to not not vote for Randy Wooten?") But it might be worse because he claims some others have voted for him, too, of whom a part probably did. I'm glad we don't use voting computers here, at least for now.

After reading the article I think an investigation is necessary, but will one take place?

Machine voting has to have bullet-proof audit controls, that is for sure. To that end, I am pleased to report that the machines here have had printed record tapes added to them recently so that the voter can eye-ball his selections as having been properly recorded on paper prior to submitting with the last button push. So, that is good.

I really think the whole computer voting thing is a tad over-blown, though. A lot of noise and motion which distracts from a much more intractable issue.

The real problem is that the mind-controlling media and government seem to have fused.

What has evolved is a population under near total mind control by the Media and a government much more frightened by that Media than the cowed, zombieized voters it works for.

Take the war issue. We have a pro-Israel Media, a pro-Israel administration, a pro-Israel congress, and the two pro-Israel major parties. Some choices. Going back to paper ballots won't help here. A peep out of anyone to the contrary and in an instant the word "anti-Semite" is used like a cluster bomb to cut down the opposition.

But war is really only money and blood. We can eventually recover from that, even recovering some of our national honor if given enough time. The real problem ultimately is immigration. If it is permitted to continue at the present level, we cease to exist as a nation, period, replaced by something else. Poll after poll shows that as many as 85% of the voting public, instinctively driven by a vestige of their good sense, wants immigration to be severely curtailed. Again, essentially the same gang mentioned above ignores the public or insults it with lame gestures. It then slanders anyone who dares to speak or lead against these policies, leaving meager choices for the voter. Paper ballots won't fix this either.

Oh come on, are you new here?

I've said that all along that is why I always say we must go to a non-career Politician system. Why else do you think I would stick my neck out and run for the top spot?

Stick your neck out? Really don't think you're putting much of a reputation on the line.

Besides, you lie just as much as a career politician, if not more.
