I'm a worker....

I just bought a new 08 civic though. I had a 95 Jetta w/ 150k miles and no power windows, locks, or airconditioning.

I work full time. I have my associates but will finish my BS starting this fall Full Time. I rent and have a roommate.

Life is good!

I used to be a working class guy, in the Army at 17, had a kid at 19. I got out, used the Army college fund and got my accounting degree from a Pac-10 University. Got a job at a Big 4 accounting firm which forced me to relocate. Its almost 8yrs after my graudation date, I'm a senior manager now and hoping to make partner in 3yrs.

And no Lexus or BMW for me. I much prefer my Swedish engineering!

Now, I must go catch my helicopter so I can make it to the airport and be in Paris by tomorrow for lunch with Paris Hilton. She thinks they named the city after her and we're celebrating.

Are you going to tell her she resembles her namesake? Paris the stupid Trojan?

I work in a factory. I work 50+ hours a week. 12 1/2 hour days....4 or 5 days a week. Rarely have weekends off. My wife works in a call center. We own our own house (well, in like 28 more years we will 'own it'), have two cars, etc. We rarely have spending money...but we make due with what we have. I would love to get a job at a union factory where I can make a decent wage. I don't mind the long hours and working nights...its the $11 an hour that gets me. And around here, thats decent. Most places want to pay $8 - 9 an hour. We both want kids...but not until we have more money. And yes, the gas prices are hurting me to the point that we have trouble making our bills. I am a workin' man. :'(

Be careful...around here, espousing union idealism will get you flamed as worthless and lazy...;)
Good luck with that. I'm 100% union supporter.

QFT. I'm sure a lot of people on here are full of crap but there's probably as many who do have good paying jobs because tech jobs still pay pretty well and everyone going to college in those fields will probably be making pretty good money in a few years.

Yeah, I know some union people who are lazy. They get the job and stand around doing NOTHING. I mean, they get that attitude that they don't get paid enough to do that, etc etc. I just want something that pays the bills...and if I have to be union to get a decent wage, thats fine by me.

Well, not everyone here is like that - me, for example, disabled living on disability, the only thing I have of any value is a few A64s...haven't even had a car since '96...god I miss driving, and I live in a one room apartment. It feels a lot like my college bachelorette days, though. :)

Most posters on AT have a Maybach, Veyron, 2 Zondas, a house with 14 bathrooms and a room just to house their Amex Black card. I thought this was common knowledge?

I drive a 2000 Ford Contour(it's an SVT, but still no Lexus). Work everyday 8-5:30 and live in a $900 a month 1 bedroom apartment. I am by no means wealthy, but I get by without too much worry. In think a lot of people on here have the materialistic nature that's become part of US society lately. Gotta have the nicest car, the biggest flat screen, the fastest computer etc. If you've got the money to do it, who are we to say you can't though? I just hope that the people buying all the toys aren't spending it all and have nothing in the bank for when things get bad. Most AT'ers are smarter than that though. It's like my friend's dad sais, you gotta make sure you keep a nice big rock handy for when a big dog comes and start barking at you.

Of course everyone makes at least a 6 or 7 figure salary every year. You just have to allow leading zeros. $0050000 is 7 figures!

Um, just because there are a few liars and successful people on here doesn't mean that the majority are in the same boat.

Hell I drive a 10 year old vehicle and make enough to get by.

you are where you are in life as a result of the choices you've made.

So I'm not a professional athlete only because of the choices I've made? ;)

There is such a thing as raw talent - people aren't all created equally. Granted you will need to work hard to realize that talent, but the vast majority of people will never be pro athletes no matter how long they practice.

I don't agree. Sports are so diverse that there is something for Everyone. Even if its golf.

You act like all pro sports players make a great deal of money...

My cousin Matt Spaeth, whom was a 3rd round pick for the steelers (played for my almamada, University of Minnesota Twin Cities) doens't make nearly as much as you'd think. I'm just a consultant, and net income is roughly about even.

He made a comment the other day that he wishes he would've pursued continuing his education, and to be honest - I believe he was sincere.

huh....are you serious? I never mentioned money at all. the only thing I said was:

"you are where you are in life as a result of the choices you've made."

What about all the discriminations and hardships for those poor inner city/native born minority people? It is not their faults...it is the man/system/racist/fill in the blank....Blah..blah..blah...more excuses...Remember?

OP, remember this.

Doers = Do not talk/brag...too busy

Talkers/Braggers = do not do...too chicken to do anything and much easier to lie/brag on the internet.

It's the Internet. You think most people on here are speaking 100% truths?
