Man, people are lazy and ungrateful.

Here is the deal. Where I now work, we order parts. to get a part faster there is an electronic form we have to fill out that has about 60 pieces of information in it. we do over 2000 of these a day, and it was taking about 7 minutes per form from retrieving the info, double checking stuff, and sending the form off to the correct company.

I wrote a macro that gets all the information, double cheks it, and fills out the form all for you. it takes about 30 seconds to do it now.

1 in every 100 this macro screws up because there is not enough bandwith into the building and somethign wierd happens. then the macro must be restarted.

Every time this happens, I get b!tched at. even though the macro can screw up 14 times in a row and you would still not be out any time, I get b!tched at anyway just because it screwed up.

Even though I wrote it monday and has only been used for 3 days, people are so used to it now taking seconds to do what used to take minutes, that they bitch when it screws up and they have to do it again.

They are not getting the new one or any others I make. I will just be the most productive one here. Just felt like b!tching.

Why'd you bother to help them in production? I think it would have been better to make you look like you were wasting away on them.

its what you get for being nice. I don't do stuff like that anymore. Infact, I welded the rear bumper on my boss's old work truck to a metal pillar in the ground today at work. It was funny as hell.

Next time you find a way to save time, offer to sell them the macro or whatever. Always make a profit.

Can you take it away? Then do so. It's not your job to make everyone else's work easier. Say you're fixing the bugs that everyone's bitching about and while you're doin it, they'll have to use the old system. If they nag...tell them that their bitching is what got it taken away first off.

My thoughts have always been: Do my job better than everyone else, don't do everyone else's job.
