Does anyone here own the 2-Disc DVD Collector's Edition of Man On Fire.

If so, could you please explain the alternate ending as compared to the theatrical ending?

Thanks!

Damn, I didn't know this had an alternate ending. Definitely one of my favorite movies and the ending was one of the few things I thought could have been better. Supposedly Denzel pulled rank and it was his decision to have it the way it was. I always thought he should go meet the Voice dude and then set off a butt bomb and kill them both.

I had it backwards...Denzel came up w the alternate ending. I really wish this is what they did in the theatrical version.

# Denzel Washington came up with the idea for the alternate ending.[citation needed] It continues past the final shot of the film, with Creasy being driven to the house of The Voice. The two chat for a while about the price of human life, with Creasy continually looking down at his watch. When the stopwatch finally reaches zero, Creasy flashes a freeze-frame smile. It cuts to the entire house being blown up, revealing Creasy's use of the anal bomb. Tony Scott cut it as he felt it didn't fit in with the tone of the film.[citation needed]

I would agree with that. I liked the way it ended. It fit with the theme of life in the movie.

I disagree, a main part of the movie was revenge and Creasy died before he could get revenge on the top guy. The knucklehead Mexican cop had to get the Voice a few days later. I think it would be more fitting if Creasy's final act was sacrificing himself while taking down the head of the kidnapping organization. Instead he went out like a b1tch dying in the back of the car...it would have been better if he died on his terms taking out the Voice with him.

Originally he set out to get revenge on all those associated with the kidnapping. He didn't expect that the girl was still alive so he decided to do whatever was required to get her back. Eventually this meant sacrificing himself, though he was already pretty much dead from the wound he took getting the Voice's brother.

I think I would have like the alternate ending better, but it was still a great movie.
