I wonder if they were selling speakers.

Wow $15 and it hit it's limit?

debit cards at gas stations only go up to a certain amount. Once you hit the limit, you have to restart the transaction. It has nothing to do with the actual lmit on the card.

Man, what happened to the good ol' days of just driving away without paying.
It doesn't pump out gas if you don't pay first. I haven't seen a place in the last few years who enable pumps without either paying inside first or with a card at the pump.

She'd probably put $40 or more in her own tank by the time they stopped her. A lot of places start posting signs when the price gets high, to let people know that they have a $70 limit, at least around here.

Getting $15 worth of gas is poetic justice, that's for sure - I hope they did something worthwhile on it, before they go to FPMITA. 🙂

around here at some of our gas stations, visa and mastercard are limiting how much you can spend per transaction.

I think visa is like $50 per transaction and mastercard is like $60. If you need more than $50 or $60 in gas, going to have to make it two purchases.

I am not surprised. High gas prices are making a dent in peoples wallets to the point that they are pushed to the edge. Times are tough for some people these days.
hahaha

Ha ha. The worst part is that I think he was being serious 😀

if you are going to rob someone for gas, why not just pull a drive off? as imagine is less severe a charge than aggravated robbery.*shrug

It used to be that pumps only authorized $50 on a card when you swiped. Now it may be $75 or $100, but you get the idea. Basically the reader on the pump checks to make sure you have a certain amount of funds availabe (typically between $50 and $100) and then places a "hold" on your card for that amount. It will then allow you to pump up to that amount. The machine doesn't do a running querry of how much money is in your account.

If the woman had just finished filling her own car's tank, then depending on what she was driving she may have already spent $60-ish and if the pump only checked for $75 of available credit on the card, it makes perfect sense.
