Man kills mother of his kids over PlayStation

A 62-year-old man named Malcolm Palmer from the UK has admitted to stabbing his partner to death after she reportedly became addicted to the Grand Theft Auto video game and kicked Palmer out of their bedroom.

The PlayStation console was purchase for their 10-year-old son according to Palmer. The boy would play the console until midnight when Cannom would take over, often playing until five or six in the morning according to Palmer.

Palmer says that he had become convinced she was having an affair and went into a violent rage. During his violent rage, Palmer attacked the woman with two kitchen knives and inflicted 20 separate wounds to her upper chest, killing her. The murder was reportedly heard by the couple?s son who dialed police. Palmer reportedly took the phone from his son and told police, "I'm sorry. I think I've killed her."

Shame that people who cannot control their addictions alienate those around them like this. Oddly enough, this situation appears to not support Jack Thompson's reasoning as it does not say that the man ever played violent video games.

Video Games cause another act of violence!

Seriously though, that's messed up. Both her obsession and the Husband killing her over it. Games can get quite intoxicating, as most of us know, I think. I know anyway. :D

This had nothing to do with the game. He was nuts, combined with a paranoia or a reality of her cheating on him. Classic case, just this time when the shit hit the fan she happened to be playing a video game.

she only played for five or six hours a day, i am sure plenty of ATrs (especially WOWers) put that to shame.

I wonder what she should have done if she picked up WoW.

I basically stopped playing GTA 4 when I finished the story.

The fight probably started over video games and got out of hand. When I was a kid one of my grade school mates' parents shot the other in a fight over food seasoning.

I saw this and the first thing I thought of was this thread and how ridiculous an assumption it was.

That and this are really no different. A person loses control and kills someone else. Both are disgusting and the individuals involved are responsible, not some external agency.

B]Palmer says that he had become convinced she was having an affair and went into a violent rage. [/b]

This one sentence tells why. Now why are we wasting time blaming a video game?

Epic irony: the game that's allegedly "supposed" to make the player become violent actually made the non-player violent and ultimately homocidal.
