Came fast, Felt like I was going to die.

1. Friday: Went for my jog, usually do a few miles a day, but felt tired/lethargic, went home early.

2. Saturday afternoon I was feeling tired, didn't want to do anything, but no stomach issues.

2. Saturday night, went to bed early, woke up with a mild fever, took 500mg Acetaminophen. Stomach was making some noises.

3. Sunday morning: Hell began, diarrhea every 15 - 30 mins or so (all water). Cramping and a water sound in my abdomen. Pretty much couch/bed bound. Took Imodium (60mg max dose) which reduced cramping. It was so bad, I didn't now if I was farting or shitting!!! Some bouts of nausea. Drank a lot of Pedialyte and ate chicken soup. My guts felt torn up inside and completely non-functional. I must have been to the toilet 20 - 30 times.

I was so weak and tired I walked like a 90 year old man.

4. Monday morning: Tired, but no bowel movements, lots of gas, all gas. I dragged my self to work late. Some stomach pain and headache (like a hangover). It's 4:30 and I haven't been to the toilet all day today. I ate my breakfast and lunch today (normal) and no rushing to the toilet. Now I'm eating yogurt (hopefully to repair the damage)...

Same thing happened to me. I dunno what caused it but Friday evening is when it started...diarrhea all weekend. Stomach made a bunch of weird noises the entire time. I probably spent about 12 hours on the toilet over the last few days. Imodium and Pepto didn't really seem to help.

My butt is still sore from all the terrible poops :(

I got it from my son. Weird thing is I didn't come in direct contact with any of his secretions. He's 5 though so he has no exp with handling this kind of thing.

I was reading later (while on the cough) that it doesn't take much. It only takes 10 -20 viral particles for an infection. There was an article I was reading where someone vomited in a dining hall and 132 people were infected. They were no where near the person, just the air moved around and they caught the particles.

Shit...

That was because you ate at the Buffet... Because some employee wiped their ass then used the same hand to spoon food into the buffet tray!!!

At some point I was thinking of running the garden hose into my down-stairs bathroom with the water nozzle and simply use the stream on the nozzle gun...

I don't have any kids and I always wash my hands very thoroughly so I dunno what I came into contact with. Hopefully not airborne vomit particles but I guess that's better than poop particles.

It might have been something food related. I had leftover pad see ew for lunch and leftover chicken wings, costco ribs, and a jason's deli strawberry shortcake for dinner. I am lactose intolerant so the shortcake would normally give me problems but the poops came immediately after eating and that would have been too fast of a reaction.

Buffets are a mess. Its not the employees necessarily, its the thousand and one people handling the serving spoons and breathing all over the food. If you must eat at one break out the hand sanitizer when you get back to your table. Used to eat Home Town Buffet a lot about a year ago and that's probably what saved me there. Never got sick after stopping there a couple times a week. Oh, and I don't do leftovers. If I can't finish it at a restaurant I leave it. Not worth taking a chance of it breeding bacteria while it rides around in the car.

Update...

As I was comming home I started getting stomach pain. I was squirming like a worm in my car. I went to walmart and picked up a box of gas-x. Took 4 tablets. I'm farting now every 30 seconds.

1. Stomach pain
2. Nausea
3. Huge fart
4. Goto 1

I'm in pain as I type.

WTF kind of virus is this?

At least you weren't vomiting too.

The onset of fear as you realize the trip to the shitter turns into the nightmare scenario"shomit".

Yeah, rotovirus/norovirus are bad. Very very bad. I dropped 10 pounds in about 6 hours one night when my daughters infant room was passing the gift of rotovirus. Good times *WERE NOT* had.

Going to a buffet is asking for trouble. You're safer just eating a sandwich off the ground, IMO.

Have you tried 7-up and just crackers for food? Thats all I ate. My diarrahea was really bad the first 2 days.

The buffet I went to was first class. $30/ plate. I ate a plate of oyster and crabs.

Yeah... a few months ago I had an episode that began around 3AM. It started off with pure liquid coming out of my ass. About two minutes the later the vomiting started. It was so explosive I would be sweating after puking. I must have puked + dry heaved at least 70 times in the span of two hours. It got to the point where it physically hurt just to go through the motions of puking. I think my diaphragm was heavily cramped. And I'm pretty sure I woke the neighbors with how loud I was, but I could care less.

I guess the only saving grace was that it only lasted about two hours. After that there was absolutely nothing left anywhere in my digestive tract to come out. I had a fever the following day, and couldn't eat much either. I had absolutely no energy the following few days. I couldn't have felt any more depleted than I truly was.

It was the first time I had something like that since I was 8 years old.

we have had an outbreak of Cyclospora here in Ontario, and to a lesser extent in the rest of Canada, with 82 cases reported so far. My GF got it about a month ago.

symptoms:

Watery diarrhea
loss of appetite
weight loss
stomach cramps
abdominal bloating
increased gas
nausea
fatigue

Cyclospora illness can last from a few days to several weeks, if left untreated. Symptoms may seem to go away and then return one or more times.

:(
