Does the punishment fit the crime?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13356721

The heart of the article is

Police found 17 naked Filipinas in front of computer screens, some of them under-age.

They were described as having been forced into performing cybersex.

So, does someone deserve life in prison for cybersex, or having underaged girls preform cybersex?

Title edited - words in parentheses added - to reflect reality rather than sensationalism.

Yes. Any sexual act with children (or even legal adults that are forced into it) should be life in prison. We do need to look at age of consent though...

Did the person know they were underage and/or slaves? Or was this bad luck akin to hooking up at a party only to find out the girl wasn't 19, she is 16?

Agreed.
They forced underage girls into sexual acts. Prison is where they belong and life sounds good to me.

This.

I was coming in to defend people using the internet as an outlet for deviant sexual fetishes. What I found was online pimping of children. Not the same thing.

Stupid thread title. You should rewrite it OP.

The word "underage" has been added to the title. I thought the title was fine like it was.

People saw the title, and entered the thread with a certain mindset.

So dont hate on me for jumping to conclusions without the reading the whole story.

Thread title should be "Adults jailed for life over forcing minors to cybersex". The thread title is very misleading.

WTF now it's "Jailed for life over underage cybersex"?

That's even more misleading. It was for running a business that forced underage girls to perform cybersex for money.

What a stupid thread.

I dunno, maybe sexual slave labor and kidnapping would be more accurate terms to describe this.

Not that this would matter to OP, he is a troll.

Your reading comprehensions FAILS.

first sentence of the article..

A court in the southern Philippines found Bo Stefan Sederholm, 31, and Emil Andreas Solemo, 35, guilty of trafficking charges.

SEXUAL TRAFFICKING and SEXUAL SLAVERY.. far different than Cybersex charges..

You entered this thread to defend cybersex because you jumped to conclusions from reading only the title.

Next time read the whole post before you jump to conclusions.

So what you're saying is as the OP you aren't required to make your thread title have anything to do with the actual subject at hand? You'll even go so far as to make an intentionally misleading thread title?

Next thing you'll probably tell us this was all a "social experiment" to see how many people would actually read the article.

In honor of how shitty this thread is, I propose a question:

Where did you take the biggest shit of your life?

Mine was in the Dominican Republic. I wish I could've taken a picture.

Please explain what is wrong with cybersex. I'll wait.

Next time read the whole post before you jump to conclusions.

So let me get this straight. If you don't read the article before posting a misleading thread, that's ok and don't blame you for it. If another person reads the misleading thread title and goes to make a response based on that, then he is wrong? o_O

Did you read the title of the article?

Did you read the article or, because you had to suffer through the Texas education system, just couldn't read past the title?

The point of the title is to give a quick synopsis of what you should expect to be discussed in the thread. I came in thinking I was going to go into a certain topic of discussion.

What was presented in the OP was not what was alluded to in the title. It was misleading. The title as it is now " Jailed for life over underage cybersex" is misleading as well.

Should be "Cyber sex slave ring busted. Scumbags get what was deserved."
This isn't cybersex. This is prostitution and slavery. Big difference.

The question is what the swedes would do in their country if they caught some guys doing the same thing to their young girls?
