man, is there a linux app that turns an ethernet connected pc into a wifi hotspot?

i havent had time to look at any of this yet, have you guys personally tried any of these, just so i know what works well

Mine works well. I've only had about 7 clients simultaneously though. It requires a well supported wifi card, and understanding of your distro's iptables config and the ability to rtfm for a couple of other services.

If you have a good connection you can set up a nice VPN on it too.
 
Try pfsense for a unixy operating system that turns a pc into an access point. Whether you can do this or not will depend on what chipset your wireless card uses.
