Nope, not a winner. To win you need to remove yourself from the gene pool to improve humanity. This guy survived, so he's merely monumentally stupid.

Damn! Beat me to it. Give him a few more tries and he'll succeed.

Honorable mention at least. He didn't die or sterilize himself, unfortunately. Still, how clueless do you have to be to do something like that? (burn gunpowder that is)

Why is it so incredible that someone would do that? It's not like it explodes. It just burns, like wood. It's just volatile enough to cause burns.

You're supposed to put the gunpowder on the fire before you light it. I lit a shoebox full one day, looked like a rocket engine, pretty sweet.

You're in full possession of all your faculties/can count up to 10 on your fingers after doing this? Congrats.

Bwuahahahahah!!! I guarantee he will be lying in the hospital bed, w/oxygen hooked up with the thing under the nose and he'll light up a cigarette!

*KA-BOOOOOOM!* :Q What a dumbass. Hopefully, he removes himself from the gene pool before he hurts anyone but himself.

It's not like I'm a full blown idiot like the guy in the news. You have to know what happens, like WinkOsmosis said, it does just burn, like dynamite does. Gunpowder needs to be confined, and even then it just burns fast, it never really explodes, and dynamite needs an impact to go off.

Problem nowadays is that people are too stupid to know what they're doing and can't take the responibility or being a dumbass when they get burned (no pun intended).

Hahaa, just read of volunteer Fire Brigade that was asked to get rid of some old fireworks. They decided to put them in an old barn that they were allowed to burn and "practise" on, thinking they get rid fireworks while practising with the barn. Outcome: 6 injured and 2 vehicles destroyed. :D
After police investigation they learned that these old fireworks contained a total of 400kg's of powder!!! :Q

Lesson to be learned: Burning might not be the best way to get rid of Gun Powder or old Fireworks...

That's what all explosions are. Nothing actually explodes, it just burns at an extrordinarily fast rate.

From Explosives.org
"Unlike other chemicals, most explosives detonate rather than burn. A detonation is a very rapid chemical reaction that uses oxygen that is contained in the material rather than in the air. In a detonation, the chemical reaction releases gases that rapidly expand and give off energy as they become hot."

Gunpowder is a little bit of a gray area tho, it's technically a low explosive, tho it doesn't detonate like a high explosive.
