Man I'm scared to be on campus at night now

It seems San Jose has really gone downhill since I lived there. Well that much was instantly obvious to me when I last visited there 2 years ago.

Concealed Carry FTW

CCWs generally don't allow carrying on campus or other school zones.

Sworn Law Enforcement FTW!

We win! 😀 😀 😀

What are the rules for carrying a weapon anyways? What are the consequences for carrying a concealed weapon when you are protecting yourself? I'm just curious.

I asked a cop once and he said you could carry a weapon and have it perfectly visable. However, you can't carry bullets nor can you have it loaded so I'm thinking that defeats the purpose of carrying a weapon in the first place.

It varies area to area...around here, yes, in theory you can carry a weapon in public plain view...however, the cops will show up and take you down. Not for carrying a weapon, but for threatening the public and/or breach of peace (or something to that effect.)

As for carrying into a school zone...that violates most, if not all state laws when you do carry it into a school area, concealed or not. Most school zones (this includes universities) have a weapon free policy...guns, knives and other obvious weapons are banned. A firearm is going to carry the most serious punishment and response from local law enforcement.

Other than that, many federal buildings, landmarks, and courthouses ban firearms inside them even by many sworn officers. For example...I am a deputy for my county. I cannot even carry my firearm in the courthouse, and I am an officer of the court! The only people with weapons in there are the court security deputies, no other person can carry, local, county, state or federal. If you do have a CCW permit and you don't know of any of this, or are thinking of getting one, I highly suggest you do some research as to where and when you can carry and when you cannot. Being sworn, I am not as limited as you are (ie, I can carry into school zones and not be padded down in certain places).

So am I. It's unofficial St. Patrick's day.

Two guys in my geography discussion almost got into a fistfight over GMOs

What are GMOs? And it does seem a bit festive at the moment. I have to teach a discussion section today, so I hope nobody gets in a fight there.

You'd have to look up your state's laws, but here you have to have a CCW, and even then you cannot carry on college campuses, in schools, in places where liquor is served, or at large public assemblies (such as sporting events).

Many places you can "open carry" provided that it's not loaded, which would be borderline retarded to do anyway.
