money these days.

Earlier this week spent nearly 400 bucks ($380 actually) to get components to upgrade my aging p2-400 to a Athlon TB 1.4 ghz. Its a small upgrade with new case, mobo, cpu, memory and hard drive. Rest of the components come from the old system.

Next money spending deal.. well its like this. I had bought these pair of Jensen 5 1/4 speakers for the front door in my car as my christmas gift from my parents (it was a GC). Today I finally decided to install them while i was at work (started around 5 PM). Well it went all so well until I tried getting the speakers install. The stupid thing wont install, because the depth of the new speaker is far greater than teh old paper cone speaker that came with teh car. The size of the cone is the same, but the speakers are different depths. So that pissed me off, and having that happen I knew I coudlnt install without another riser. The riser that came with the speakres werent enough to clear the metal backplate in the door. So I said to myself "fsck this I am going to best buy" well I called best buy, they were busy working on some cars, circuit city was closed for the day for installations. Then I figured since I am going to have them install teh friking speaker, I might as well have them install a new head unit too.

So I again call bestbuy but they have run out of the head unit I want, only 1 open show peice in each of the 3 best buys nearest to me. So I called ciruit city, they dont carry it. Tried calling fry's but couldnt get anyone. So I started driving from work I decided to call ahead and check if "the good guys" store had it. Sure enough they have one boxed peice. So I blocked it and picked her up.

In the short ending.. I am getting a new Aiwa MP3/CD Player Headunit (model CDCMP3 I think) and having the front speakers installed. While I am at it I am going to have them replace that car antenne (since they are going down there anyway, might as well change that for me. All in all I spent about $400 including a 3 yr ESP on the player.

I am so excited.. I cant sleep now.. but I need sleep. I got my machine to build tommorow and my car will be gtting upgraded tommorowo too.

The only thing I am worried about is :
1. Is teh speakers that i have okay? The rear are pioneer dual cone 6x9 (nominal 40W, Max 120W), the fronts are 5.1/4 Jensen 2 way (35W Nominal, 105 Max).
2. Am I going to get the hum I was getting thru my old system - via the cd/cassette converter. Possibly this converter was at fault.
3. How is it going to sound... distorted or what. My old headunit (clarion) had a 22Wx4 output, and I hardly had to turn her up with the new rear speakers, the new head unit is 45Wx4.

Oh well tommorow we will see how this goes. I am also going to have them inspect my "rear speaker" cables, cause i installed that by myself.

does anybody have this player or know someone who does..
I heard it skips.. I am so scared now. Bloody hell I dont want a 300$ peice of crap that skips..

oh well I am heading out to have it installed now (well in 10 mintues got to clear my car out) and I am thinking if I should upgrade to the kenwood excleon which is about 50 or 60 dollars more.. just for the anti skip protection.
