Excellent movie...watching it now on some classic movie channel...no interruptions.

"Hal, open the pod bay door"

"I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that."

To think it was made in 1968...

"I'm afraid, Dave..."

It's a classic until it jumps into the deep end with the space baby.

by "deep end" I mean "LSD"

I like it...so screw you. ;)

It's got a very familiar feel to Kubrick's other film...the Shining...did you guys like that?

Oh, it's a classic, it's just those last few shots, which are...well, they're what I think shrooms might be like...

It's not fast paced, and it was made in the late 60's...what were you expecting?

Well, true (and that part is on now). It's the little subtle things. Hal's soothing monotone voice, how all you hear is the breathing when Dave is outside in the space suit, how Hal sings that song as he is diconnected, and I do like the very end part where Dave is in the room (after the phychedelic part)...

Well, I enjoyed it. You need to think a little to understand it, but it's definately a classic. It's a very visual movie...

I guess I'm showing my age....

Nope..it was on the Turner Classic Movies channel. Watched the whole thing...

They even had the part in the middle where the word "Intermission" comes up for like 5 minutes and they play music...heh.

I've never liked it. It's one of those movies that was supposed to be good, then I watched it and was completely bored with it.

I think TCM played the original, unedited version. I don't think I've ever seen a movie with an intermission screen that goes up for 5 minutes, and there were zero commercials.

Heh I tuned into it on the last few minutes after watching discovery HD theater. Quality was craptastic.
I'm glad I have it on DVD :)

Sounds good - never seen one with the intermission screen either :D
