That was touching. At first I was worried that the plan was to be like "psyche! you didn't win shit!" - I'm glad that wasn't what they were doing, because that would be really cruel obviously.

Then again, if it had been one of those homeless guys who is totally just angling for booze or drug money, then that might be a pretty sweet prank to pull.

This guy didn't seem like one of those, and I hope he isn't. I hope he finds some way that $1,000 (which unfortunately isn't that much) can help him change his situation permanently. Difficult thing to do, but there are ways it could be done.

Regardless, it was very heart warming.

He's going to spend it all in a day.

Maybe, maybe not, you have no idea how many people are one paycheck away from homelessness, he seemed sober to me, maybe the $1000 will be enough to get him back on his feet, get him a phone# so he can look for work, i wish him the best and that's one hell of a nice thing to do for someone, awesome..

That is messing with someone else's life, maybe good, maybe bad, but its clearly stirring somebody else's pot.

It was a cool thing to do. You can tell he's a good guy (the homeless man), just down and out and doesn't know how to get back up on his feet again. I don't usually endorse giving away cash to strangers, I do give out restaurant gift cards all the time and keep a stack in the car, but I guess there are exceptions.

What was that Will Smith movie where he was selling equipment while living on the streets with his son?

Things like this always make me remember of what Kreia in KOTOR 2 said on Nar Shaddaa when you give the beggar 5 credits...

Could make things better, could make things a lot worse.

I hope so as well.

The fact that he wanted to share the windfall tells me that he's a good guy. Maybe he'll use it in a constructive manner.
