Misleading title.

The man did NOT receive 99 years for stealing a cell phone.

He got 99 years for being a habitual, violent offender who has proven to be a danger to society.

our tax dollars are being spent on this scumbag....so now he is getting a roof over his head and 3 meals a day which is something he probably did not do consisently in the free world...

what is the average cost to house and feed a prisoner anyway? what if you include the cost of facilities, utilities, prison officials and quard wages, etc...

Cheaper than the countless incarcerations, jail time, court time, police burden, parole officer, oh AND that he will commit more crimes in the future!

They should just put him to death. Then they won't have to waste 50+ years feeding, clothing, and housing the reject.

He'll be out on perole in a couple years after the appeal knocks his sentance down to something more sane.

That's kinda excessive.

People like that are destined to spend their lives in prison. Im glad the jury did it before he killed someone.

I get the impression that he wanted life in prison. They should have pretended to give him a death sentence just to see his reaction. :D

haha... i think they shoudl do that with all sentancings.. that'd be great..

judge: you are sentanced to life in prison
defendant: but it was just as speeding ticket!
judge: haha, just kidding.. gimmie twenty bucks

it was kinda excessive, but it really seems like he just wanted to go to prision... i mean really, it's a decent place to be.. free food and home for the rest of your life.. you have people that you have a lot in common with, and you get to play sports, work out, or watch t.v. all day.. can't go wrong.. except for the anal rape-age... but hey, you win some you lose some

i thought texas is pretty liberal w/ the death sentence. The dude is useless living in prison anyway, might as well axe him.
