What do you think should be the punishment for firing a gun in a public sports bar?

You're right, though I still think it's funny.

Exactly. Remember the episode of Simpsons where Homer was using his gun to turn of the lights, open cans etc.?? Shooting guns in public places is not acceptable. He could have killed somebody. He should lose the right to own a gun for life, just for being so fricking stupid.

EDIT: I once took my old PII 500 to the range and pumped it full of .223 and buckshot. Lots of fun. :)

Yes, and drunk drivers should lose their license for life for being so fricking stupid, but we don't live in a fair world, now do we?

Personally I think they should have thier cars taken away. In my experience thier is not bigger behavior modifier than taking away someones stuff. How about it DUI and you forfeit your car??

I don't know if that would really work out to bve fair. Two people commit the same crime, and one loses a '78 buick worth $400, and someone else loses a $50,000 mercedes. Or, what if the car the drunk was driving didn't belong to him, does he get off scot free?

It's not fair when they cause an accident and maim/cripple/kill someone else. Life isn't fair. I think a few jurisdictions already have confiscation on the books. I have to look up how it works, for example what if the husband is driving a car that his wife is co-owner of and she needs it to go to work etc. I guess you could give them the option of buying it back or something.

"It's sort of funny, because everybody always threatens their computers," said police Lt. Rick Bashor, seconds before his own police computer froze at police headquarters.

Yea, the punishment won't be fair. Even though the one person could be rich it wouldn't be right.

It also wouldn't be right if someone borrows a car, and end up driving drunk with it. You can't take that persons car for that. He didn't know that the drunk would be driving drunk.

Maybe it was a PIII 500. It was old, that is all I remember...and it had a crappy IBM hard disk.

If that law went into effect, then people would just buy a really crappy beater to drive out on the town. Leave their nice cars to drive during the weekday or when sober. Problem solved.

I think that you should look up federal law relating to the taking of property for crimes.
A kid borrows his grandmothers car and buys a load of dope and is caught, the car is forfeted never to be returned.

Yeah thats great, he pumped four shots into his computer, without regards to his patrons health. If one of those lead slugs had hit someone and maimed or killed them, this genius would be sitting for a few decades in a 8 by 8 cell, all because his computer crashed and he got pissed.

What a moron.
