OAK PARK – Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near the top of a 1,000 foot radio broadcast tower Tuesday.

The man was reportedly wearing only a T-shirt and underwear when he was discovered on a platform on the tower.

Police said workers discovered the body of a young black man about 12:30 p.m. after they scaled the tower at 20931 Meyers near Eight Mile Road to do repair work.

“They found the body at the top of the tower,” said Oak Park Deputy Public Safety Director Steve Cooper. “We have not identified him yet.”

Cooper said investigators would have a better idea of what may have killed the man after an autopsy is done Tuesday by the Oakland County Medical Examiner.

There were no obvious signs of violence on the body such as stab or gunshot wounds, police said.

“We’re not ruling anything out as to the cause of death,” Cooper said.

My guess is the guy was drunk off his mind, decided it would be fun to climb up there, then froze to death.

I'm sure exhaustion played into it as well. I've climbed 50' HAM towers, and that's an effort. 1000' tower would be a helluva a workout.

That would be some pretty good coordination and physical ability while drunk to climb 1000ft

This explanation is too simple and doesn't make enough assumptions.

I believe aliens might be involved, Skully.

PCP or Meth, for energy. Not Alcohol.

Taking bets.

Shens. Drunk people have lots of energy. They dance, they jump the fence to swim in the neighbor's pool, they pushed my car out of the snow once, and I usually drink before shoveling sidewalks before then it doesn't feel so cold.

On an unrelated note... the dude aged well. He was what 30-ish when the X-files came out? Now he's 50! Damn. Hank Moody FTW.

Its should be obvious to all regarding the cause of death.

On radio towers, you get irradiated.
