I was channel surfing..and the battle footage from the spanish channels are WAY better than any of the 3 big news channels....i don't speak spanish...wish i did after those footages...they're a lot better, and since they're not really baised..they seem pretty straight forward.....then i change the channel to cnn and stuff..and all they do is repeat old news and talk BS and show the old, bland footage...and talk some more, talk tactics....just give us the facts....stop going in circles and shiet...freakin a...

Describe their battle footage. Who're they embedded with and what city (or part of Baghdad) are they in?

Also, check out the new footage from the 3rd ID that Greg Kelly sent in to FOX (although now that it's 3am PST, FOX just did a shift change over to "Fox and Friends", which is terrible). This new footage is amazing.

yeah i just saw that!!! crazy!! they're shooting up that van and that SUV...and that other white small sadan..shiet....this is the real deal...

anyways, since i don't understand spanish, i have no idea on the details...

but this is what they showed one time:
they have a night shot w/ tracers going everywhere and and explosion in the distance....it goes on forawhile and then camera pans..artilerry starts shooting and through their night vision u can see the motars that fly out like crazy...and u can see tracer bullets going back and forth...marines?/army soldiers? diving into the ground for cover and shooting back.....i'm thinking they're embedded in another division that has seen a lot of action.....and the baghdad scenes are just the same 'ol stuff...

Interestingly enough, watching the FOX video and the commentary along with it, you got a clearer idea of what they were doing than if you relied upon the CENTCOM briefing. At CENTCOM, they characterized it as sending a message to Saddam & Co. about the Coalition being able to move anywhere in Baghdad at times and places of their choosing. In the embedded reporter's commentary, you learn that part of the purpose is also to gauge the organization and fighting ability of the regime's defenders. The commanders on the scene characterized the Republican Guard (or whoever was attacking the armored column) as tenacious fighters, willing to die, but largely unorganized and ineffective. Machine gun nests, for example, were not dug in well enough and thus were easy for the tanks and the Bradleys to neutralize. And the footage of the cars and trucks charging the column was priceless.

Actually what you say is not actually accurate with reference to the quote below.

Operative word to me was "seem" ;)

Foreign journalists must have bigger balls because the international channels (i.e. greek channels on my dish) have raw feeds of the streets of Baghdad and they show raw feeds of other various news stations. Sometimes the stuff is quite gruesome but that's what war is. It seems to me like we are treated like little children by the US channels and their crappy video feeds.

A friend of mine works for a network news company - I've heard that the raw news that they receive is routinely "cleaned" up even on a normal day to day basis.

Supposedly there is a lot of stuff he thinks should be shown...but it is not deemed "suitable" ;)
