Yeah, it's getting so that you can barely voice your political opinion without being punished for it lately.

The client was a public relations worker who represents the Berkeley County school district, he said. "It's just bizarre that you disagree with them and it all turns evil," Hiller said.

The client was representing a Berkley County School District??? WTF, a gfunded by tax payers client??

That's total bull.

No different than if he got drunk and started shouting about how crappy the chicago bears were at a client dinner.

I actually agree, and frankly it sounds to me like he was happy to go out in a blaze of gunfire, so to speak.

Right, and the ironic thing is, he can probably find a job now that his name is famous ..... as oppose to shouting about chicago bears at a client dinner where he will get fired not get any news coverage.

I like how you HAD to put "if he got drunk" into your imaginary scenario, even about the lowly and pathetic Chicago Bears, while everyone not drunk on neocon cool-aid knows the height of political sobriety is to refuse to drink from the Dub's poisoned well of smears (McCain, Cleland, now Kerry) and lies (list too long to detail).

Come November, the dry drunk Dub will be drydocked and decommissioned.

Hmm, I beg to differ on your analogy there, it's close but not as accurate & missing the point,
the better analogy is he is invited to the client dinner, and at there everyone order a certain beer (eg budxxx) and he go ahead and insisted on having competitor brand. And then the next morning he got fired for that.
Or if you want to focus on the shouting part, he was invited to a bar by his client, where the bar is full of Chicago Bears fans and he berated the Bears in front of everyone, and the next day he got fired for that.

The point is, he attended a political rally, shouldn't Bush expect someone to disagree with him at some point & sometime? I heard before that bush campaign made you sign an oath on paper before you attended their rally to support Bush and sometimes they bus in their supporters, I wonder how come they missed this one guy.

Hiller was ushered out of Hedgesville High School on Tuesday after shouting his disagreement with Bush's comments about the war in Iraq and the search for weapons of mass destruction. The crowd had easily drowned out Hiller with its chant: "Four more years."

Jim Jones was a democrat and got many democrats elected. You choose to use the death of a few hundred people who died a horrible death to get your point accross. Disgusting.

I know of many people in social services jobs that hide political leanings for fear of losing thier jobs. The liberals go spastic whenever they hear there is a differing opinion in thier midst.

Last month, Charleston City Council apologized to two protesters arrested for wearing anti-Bush T-shirts to the president's July 4 rally. The pair were taken from the event in restraints after revealing T-shirts with Bush's name crossed out on the front and the words "Love America, Hate Bush" on the back. Trespassing charges were ultimately dismissed.
I bet if they were wearing Brown Shirts they would have been embraced!

Oh, please, people have exploited catastrophes and horrific events as far back as history tells. I'm surprised you can see past the froth caked on your monitor to read the posts.

IMO the man was in a public position and he went to an event designed for one purpose; while I always support the idea of free speech, he had to have known he would be noticed and castigated for it. He appears to be okay with it, so move on and cover something of substance.

CHARLESTON, West Virginia (AP) -- A man who heckled President Bush at a political rally was fired from his job at an advertising and design company for offending a client who provided tickets to the event.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds to me he was fired for offending a client who provided tickets to the event, I would have fired him to

This is very true; it's particularly a problem since the civil service maintains from administration to administration, so civil servants are bound to work for someone they didn't vote for at least once in their lives.

The liberals go spastic whenever they hear there is a differing opinion in thier midst.

This is idiotic. Way to make a good point and then crap all over it.

The "got drunk" part in alchemize's post adds a certain...falseness that was absent from the actual event. The Repubs seem to have a problem with...recounting actual events...truthfully? ;)
Anyway, it WAS a private event and the guy offended his sponsor, so...bu bye job. He should go into consulting now, not nursing! :D

he now plans to pursue work as a registered nurse

nice....

Personally feel the company was right for firing him, it isn't like he was a long term and well liked employee as he had only been there for five months, and who knows how good of a client the other guy was....

a better analogy to alcs IMHO would be as if the client invited the guy over for dinner, he saw the client had bose speakers and he then continued on to slam bose....thus pissing off the client.

Why in the blue hell are people getting arrested for wearing a t-shirt? That's just disturbing.

I tell my clients up front that when they hire our firm they have just purchased not only our professional expertise, but our minds, bodies, ethics, silence and whatever else might come up at a later date.

That pretty much sums up the problem here. The client that was offended provided the ticket to the rally. The heckler EMBARRASED the client, which is a big no-no. Freedom of speech doesn't really exist in the professional world, only on your own time :p

You can insult your boss publicly, but don't count on having a job after it.
