The knee? Very interdasting. Not sure how one would bring this idea up to his girlfriend/wife.

It all depends on the service. Speed was a large issue for me with BTguard, so much so that i dropped them and switched to Tunnelr. They were great for about 4 months and then also got slow (probably oversold their bandwidth). I dug around for reviews and testimonials to find a new service but couldn't find anything reputable.

Almost all of them use OpenVPN. If configured properly openVPN keeps your connection safe even in the event of a server crash, it just fails to move any traffic on disconnect (essentially disabling your connection). We (my friends and i) are developing an easy install app that is just a gui over OpenVPN.

As for country of origin, we will have a host in the NL and a host in the US. Logs are kept to the minimum required by data retention laws.

I find it interesting how people pay to pirate, instead of paying for the products...

I wonder how much longer until social networking and peer-to-peer are finally coming together.
I.e. encrypted file sharing with facebook authorisation plugin, user groups etc.
It's the bloody future. Share with your friends, across various interest groups, and only be liable for the exact sharing you do. So if a friend rats you out, it was your fault anyway.

If I knew how to make money with that approach, I'd develop it myself....

No need for all of that; it already exists, and the more people that use it, the faster and stronger it becomes.

    "I2P is an anonymizing network"

That's the opposite of what I described though :D

It's P2P though. The whole network is a decentralized, shared resource of people using their bandwidth to strengthen the network. You're as anonymous as you want to be. The way it's setup, you can do anything, including setting up a website without anyone knowing a thing about you. Nothing says you can't tell everyone, and make your own personal idiotbook in the dark web. I don't find that particularly compelling though. I prefer sites that don't encourage people to hemorrhage personal data.
