I know you aren't comparing Bob the 13 year-old 31337 hax0r, cracking a copy of
Windows to Robin Hood who helped save the poor....

I just found the Nintendo reference funny. It's hard to imagine them doing anything right now as they are still picking up their gonads from the beating Sony gave them with the PS1.

Take a look at Progeny, Ximian, Red Hat, etc. Programmers there make a lot of money.

Did you read the ZDNET article i posted in the other thread? Legal user, legal software, no hardware changes-yet it locked him out. So when will it stop?
>>

Did you read the article? It mereley stated that Office XP (not Windows XP)threatened to shut him down. IT DID NOT SHUT HIM DOWN!!!!!!!!!

Or maybe we're talking about different articles. If this is true, please post a link.

<< << You want the truth?
The truth is MS is using this "activation" user info as a stepping stone to its next OS. The next OS will collect all your info, credit card#s, habits, and purchases. Then it will HELP you with advertising, and selling your info to third parties. >>

And you have what to back this wild allegation up??
>>

For someone so Pro-MS Psychoholic you are poorly informed. But then again that can be said for the majority of Windows users...

The plan is called "Hailstorm" it's about 3/4 of the way into the article.
I find it funny Psychoholic can't PROVE anything we are saying is NOT true. Heck, you think we are pulling this stuff out of thin-air? Gimme a break, i don't spout out pipe-dreams. As i have said before, i only wish to inform others, they will have to make the choices for themselves.

Link to Microsoft plans called -> Hailstorm

This makes (2) powerful stories backing up my claims and concerns, funny i have yet to see anything backing you up Psychoholic. Unless your as uninformed as i'm beginning to believe, you had to have read about the stuff i keep posting. So find a few stories proving your point besides your opinion-(which you throw around pretty thick)...

Cigar did i say shut him down anywhere? Perhaps reading should be better funded in our public schools.

I said it locked him out.

Pulled from article: The WARNING MESSAGE
"If you don't perform the reactivation steps, Microsoft Office will go into Reduced Functionality Mode. In that mode you will not be able to save modifications to documents, or create a new document, and additional functionality may be reduced"

Hmm, sounds like it was going to LOCK him out of using some functions?

Here is where you got the SHUT DOWN IDEA...

Also pulled from article:
"and Microsoft has just told me that Office will die if I don't immediately reauthorize my copy."

Maybe so but the last time I checked Red Hat's stock was quite a bit lower than when it was a "big ticket" item.

It's hard to disprove something that is wild allegations and propaganda. I can find all sorts of things on the net and in magazines, it doesn't mean they have any basis in fact.

Several people quoted in that article are widelt known to have a big anti-MS stance and would protest anything Microsoft did, period. Do you consider that unbiased???

Once again it's hard to disprove propaganda that has no basis or concrete evidence. All you have shown me is editorals based on people's opinions. Do any of these people work or run things at Microsoft??? Where do these people come up with these storys and how are they based in fact???

There's a lot of resentment towards Microsoft because they are so sucessful. I would have thought you could have seen through all of that jealousy and propaganda BreakApart. You have yet to show me anything concrete. I myself cannot disprove anything that isn't fact, that's all the proof I need.

right and further on he says he did a reboot, and nothing happened. It did not shut him down or lock him out or anything. (Those basically mean the same thing IMO. If you're worried about semantics, then you could really be kept busy with imtim83's spelling and grammer.)

Cigar

EDIT: I did not go to public school. You're a bit of a retard.

I have some software that will lock me out if not authorized, how come no one bitched about it. Face it the whole thing boils down to the fact people resent Microsoft's success. It happens all the time.

FWIW BreakApart, Hailstorm is Microsoft's plan to integrate XP and future versions of Microsoft products. Nowhere will you find concrete proof of the Big Brother allegations you so proudly proclaim.

<< Thank you... By not answering my points you actually did...

lol....
>>

How exactly do you prove that the National Enquirer story about a woman having 3 alien kids isn't fact??? You can't dispel something that isn't true, there's nothing to dispel. Again where is your concrete proof, not opinions of people an interviewer chose to talk to.

first i didn't say evil, i said exploitative...

second, that comment makes NO sense because under that logic there are ways to get everything free: cars, clothes, jewelry - just steal it (real world piracy)

if it's affordable, less ppl will steal it... for example, everyone at my university can by M$ software for $5 per CD... that's why i have legit copies of WinME and Office2K and Visual Studio...

<<

<< Here we go again with the Microsoft is evil ideas.:disgust: >>

<< If they just sold their software for $20/disk, everyone would buy their own legal copy and they would probably make more $$$... >>

<< As long as there's a way to get something for free there will be those who don't pay. >>

Ohhh great private school produced this...

1. Some people on these boards learned English as their 2nd or 3rd language, ITS NOT their primary language! So again you show your ignorance...

Ok, again reading is not your best skill, so i will post a snippet.

Pulled from article:
"A Hailstorm user will be able to store a wide variety of personal data on servers scattered around the Internet. Pettit says that Microsoft has designed the service to direct consumers exclusively to Internet services run by Microsoft."

You did see the word PERSONAL correct? Perhaps my glasses are dirty, who-knows...

Again a discussion with you is like talking to a block a cheese.
So as before this is my final reply--> :p

By using exploitative you insinuated evil.

No the comment does make sense due to the fact piracy and stealing are the same thing.....theft

Apply your cheaper price logic to shareware. Winzip and the like is free for thirty days after that for a nominal fee you should pay and register it. How many people do you know that paid for it???

BTW, just a suggestion, try putting you quote before the reply. It's a little less confusing if I know what you're replying to before I read your reply.

No it's you who has the dirty glasses. It says "will be able", I saw nothing about required. Maybe you just need a new prescription.

We can't all bitch about the bad software you run Psych. Although, you seem about ready to bitch about it yourself - nonetheless that doesn't make Microsofts plan any better.

imtim83: I'm sorry if I hurt you're feelings. This was not my intention.

BreakApart:

Now that I've apologized, please respond to the valid point that I make. And maybe its because I was educated in a private school, but quite often I am unable to ascertain to whom you are referring, thus making your posts more nonsense than they really are.

EDIT: and this does not show my ignorance, rather if anything it shows that I am insensitive. I am not ignorant of the fact that most people in this world do not speak english.

As an aside, though, this is an English forum, and so therefore proper english skills must be assumed in order to facilitate proper communication.
