The fenceless repellers require a dog to wear a shock collar. Seems like a cattle prod would come in handy though.

"That sucks. I can't remember from your past threads -- are you against all dogs now, or were you just referring to that specific one when you said worthless animals?"

I don't think animals should live under the same roof as people. It's not the least bit hygienic, and sucks to visit homes with animal hair all over the place. People treat these animals like people, and give them the run of the house. As I mentioned, they defend the animal's actions, no matter what. My parents have cats, and my son, my step-sister and her aunt are very allergic to them. You'd think at some point they'd stop having cats around, but no...

I just tore up part of a floor in a house we're working on. It had been soaked with cat piss, so it had to be replaced. I just can't believe what people go through for these useless critters.

I don't think haveing a pet in your house has anything to do with if your house is hygenic. If you let your pet piss and do whatever else it wants all over the house it is. But same goes for if your too lazy to take the trash out, or clean your fridge, or do your dishes. Ya gotta take some responsibility. I have two dogs in my house and I know there are peoples houses less "hygenic" than mine that don't have any pets.

Well, that gives your view some context at least.

Sounds like the tenants of the last house you worked on were very unhygenic, which I'd have a hard time placing solely on the cats. But that's just me. My dog has peed on the floor three times in this house, each of which was immediately cleaned up. Less times, I can imagine, than you would be able to say for one of your kids. Note: that statement was just meant to clarify the hygenic comment, and nothing else.

To each his own, though. I don't try to defend what my dog did, as you might have noticed, but am trying to remedy it.

My dog is a member of my family, and I can't expect you to understand that.

Ever been to a house where the cats climb on the kitchen counters? How about where there is hair EVERYWHERE? Ever walk in a house and you can smell right away that a dog or two lives there? Animals have fleas, ticks and God knows what else. Ever hear of having someone else change the cat's litter box when pregnant?

How do you like when the host is having a party, and the dog(s) sticks its nose in the chips and other food? Of course, the owners are oblivious. You hear stories all the time about dogs biting kids, but the last thing in the world the owners want to do, is get rid of their precious pet. Rather let the kids live with a few scars I guess. My neighbors' POS dog nipped at my son's face, and broke the skin. He had to get a shot. She asked how much the co-pay was for the doctor visit, which was $10.00. Gave my wife a twenty, and asked for $10.00 back! I should have shot the fvckin' thing!

Lovely rant Ornery, definitely up to par for you. Pointless, though, I'm afraid. You won't convert anyone who likes pets, and none of us who like pets will convert you.

Ever been to a house where you walk in, and the place smells of old diapers? It reeks. But the people who live there (who may not be the cleanliest of people, regardless of their children's habits) put up with it, or accept it, because they love their children. If the concept of people loving their animals is too foreign for you to accept, that's fine, but there's no need to prosthelytize. People can be disgusting: people with pets are not exempt from this. People with pets have more responsibilities to worry about (animal odors), but if they choose to ignore those responsibilities, it isn't the animal's fault.

How do you like when the host is having a party, and the dog(s) sticks its nose in the chips and other food?
I've never been to one. But I suppose that's just me: I blame the people, not the animals. People can keep their animals from doing such things, they just choose not to.

Look, we get it already: you don't like pets. We do. Your continued rantings aren't doing anything other than make you look more crotchety than you already do. Normally I respect you and your opinions, but the fact that you can't just leave this thread in peace, having made your point, seems a bit much for you.

You've made your point, and we'll have to agree to disagree. Your reason for disliking pets is no more deep rooted in logic and rationality than my decision to like them; both are based on emotion, though I'm sure we both have ample abilities to make them seem logical.

People have been keeping pets for thousands of years; they're very loyal creatures (as mine showed in a misplaced way today), and are quite a joy to those that enjoy them. Personally, I don't understand the mentality that a lot of parents have about their kids -- listen, I don't want to wait on the phone five minutes for your 2-year old to mumble "hi" -- but I respect that someday, I might understand it. I don't malign them for their choices, even if I walk in, and there's baby food all over the kitchen floor.

I should add, that the situation your son was put in sucks royally. I can't believe an owner would be as callous as that, but I suppose that people, in general, can really suck. :|

And, of course, the owners said I must have provoked it, because their precious would never do such a thing. Fvcking pet owners and their worthless animals. :disgust:

I don't know about where you live but here, you can have their dog killed. In fact, I would do it just for their being assholes.
Here, if a Dog or cat or whatever, bites or scratches someone, if you report it as a concern, the animal WILL be euthanised.
The reason? Rabies and other diseases can lie dormant for a long time and still be contageous.
The only way to test for some of these is with the death of the animal.
You may want to remind the dog owners of this...
When I was young...maybe less than 10 years old, my father's friend's dog bit me while we were visiting (I was doing kid things to it) and the dog was killed for testing. Sad, but necessary.
