Man, doesn't muscle weigh more than fat

i'm watching some body building competition NCP Team Universe or something, on cable tv and there was this 'lightweight' division portion as i learned afterwards.
when they were done they showed that they guys, about 5, were all around 5'4 to 5'5", all about 155 Lbs.

i couldn't believe that these guys could even be less than 180lbs each, i thought all were 220 lbs each. but i also couldn't tell they were short, i thought they were about 5'8" to 5'10" but not more, but still, avg. weight was about 155 lbs??? Their thighs alone are huge.

I am their height range and i'm not a body builder, and i'm not a blob either but i'm about 210 lbs, i don't have their muscle, why do they weigh so liittle? Does my 5 inches or so more in height give me that more weight? i'm puzzled.

Height raises weight significantly, but these guys also have no body fat. Muscle is heavier but I bet if you measured them they wouldn't be as big as they look. Being ripped makes you look larger with your shirt off than the same guy with 15 pounds fat on him.

muscle is heavier then fat.

You do relise that before a 'body building' competition these guys WILL stare themselves and not drink 'water' Water very dense and heavy. They limit themselves so they are very low on weight and they look more ripped. They take drugs to get more ripped also.

They look bigger as they are more ripped. You just think that. But if you see people they will probably look bigger but no way near as ripped. I see guys that have bigger arms and bodie then me but I look bigger as I am more ripped them them. HELL I SEE WOMEN with big arms! But they are larger women......

true, muscle weights more than fat, because it is a bit more dense...

however, the quantity of muscles is a factor too...

A pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat?

Interesting. 😛

To be totally anal about this, a given volume of muscle weighs more than the same volume of fat. Just like a gallon of mercury weighs more than a gallon of water.
