It's 3 a.m. here and I am getting ready to hit the hay.

Who is known for staying up the latest here?

Discuss it amongst yourselves and I'll check back later.

I get an average of about 3 hours sleep a night during the week. I catch an hour nap in the afternoon sometimes.

But hey, it is college and nearing finals. I don't have time for sleep :)

It's 9am here and I have been watching the Ireland vs Cameroon game for the last hour and a half.

Being on GMT +1 means I sleep at different times to most people here.

He's a philosophy major. Your argument is flawed because you are trying to make sense out of what he says.

Good old fashioned insomnia keeps me up...might as well hang around here until sheer exhaustion defeats whatever it is that keeps me from sleeping.
Usually I hit the hay at around 4:30am, sometimes as late as 6:00am.
It's summer and I haven't found a job yet, so I can get away with it :)

I really don't sleep enough. I really don't. I get tired at weird times. I can't help it.

Looks like my post qualifies as one among the remaining 2%. I'm honoured.

I usually goto sleep really late (read: early) then get up early and decide to go back to sleep. I do this a few times each day and suddenly half the day is gone and its 1:00 in the afternoon....Not usually that bad though, but thats what happened today (yesterday)

Yeah, man. It throws off your whole schedule. When does "tomorrow" become tomorrow? Or "late" turn into early? It's all relative to when people go to bed. But what if they don't go to bed for extended periods of time? It gets weird to consider...

people are used to the idea, and have been accustomed to, that people's day starts at 6-7am for your normal factory working parent, 8am for school kids and office people, and that the day should end a few hours (4 usually) after dinner (6pm usually?). Parents may be a couple hours later, say 12am?

So instinctually, at 12am even if the kid's not tired, the parent says (according to their schedule) that its time for beddy. Its just always been the way it works for them.

Every age group has their own general schedule. Teens' schedule are more irradical, going out late, movies, boyfriend/girlfriend, sleepovers, etc...

Insomniacs like me and you (those reading at the moment) say "schedule? what schedule?" I wake and sleep randomly. Even when I held an early morning shift (5am) job I never changed. Insomnia got me hooked. Mostly slept at 4am, woke up an hour or so later and headed for work. Come home early at 1 or 2pm. Sometimes I hit the sack in the afternoon when real tired. Other times could keep myself eyes wide open till wee hours of the night, and repeat shift work the next day.

I make an effort not to let "time" control what I do and when I do it, if I have any choice in doing so. What is time anyhow? Its intangible, yet proves to be very significant and plays an important part in many people's lives.

Sure time affects me, but not to the same degree or significance as it does to many others.
