LORAIN -- Police in Lorain are reporting some unusual repeat business.

They say a man was charged with driving under the influence twice in the same night.

Police say after 36-year-old Thomas Nicoloff was pulled over the first time, just after 10:30 Tuesday night, the arresting officer gave him a courtesy ride home.

Then, less than two hours later, police say the same officer reported he saw Nicoloff speeding and stopped him again. After being charged with DUI a second time, Nicoloff was given another ride home.

An official with the Lorain County Jail says it's too crowded to accept offenders who are considered nonviolent. And, he says the city of Lorain doesn't have the typical holding cell where drunk driving suspects can sober up.

stupid moron.

They shouldnt have let him go back home.

yea, i know the cop was trying to be nice and cut the guy a break, but if he hit and killed one of my family members i would sue the police and city.

he's drunk, he doesn't know better the second time, hah... its so soon after the first dui that some would consider it the same incident since he didn't have time to sober up

Oh w/e. I have NO tolerance for someone who is driving intoxicated or under the influence. Should've locked his butt up and left him there.

Maybe he son was dieing in the hospital so he was going to visit him and he was drunk because he feels guilty and so he became an alcoholic

And in this country, DUI includes sleeping in the driver's seat, with the car OFF and parked, and being drunk, so being charged with DUI isn't saying much

He should have been promtly taken to jail the first time. If giving him a ride home, was the best they could do, then they should have at least confiscated his keys or car. Imagine how the same cop would have felt if they guy went out and killed someone, after already being arrested earlier in the evening.
