Man caught speeding 19 times in one night

Analog

A YOUNG Swiss driver who was caught breaking the speed limit 19 times in a night was stripped of his driving licence, fined and given a suspended prison sentence.
The 19 year-old had removed his number plates to avoid being identified as he repeatedly drove through two fixed speed traps near the Swiss capital Bern at speeds up to 40km/h above the limit.

However, a policeman who had dealt with him a day earlier recognised the car on the speed trap photographs, which included snaps of passengers making obscene gestures.

The youngster admitted he had drunk seven or eight beers before the speeding spree.

A court in Bern fined him 1,000 Swiss francs ($1083) and handed down a four-year suspended prison sentence, while the passengers were ordered to appear before a minor's court.

Back when we were dumb teenagers, a friend of mine got 13 citations at one time. Not to mention a mild ass-kicking by the cops who had chased him.
Can't remember all of them now, but there were 2 "in excess of 120", multiple "careless and reckless", "failure to stop for blue lights and siren", etc.
The dumbass had a cop get after him for spinning tires coming out of a gas station, got scared and freaked out and started running. They chased him into and back out of town before cornering him.

Funny thing is, he had gotten a 90 in a 55 in his GF's Mercedes a few weeks before that, and hadn't been to court yet for it. He ended up going to court for the 13-ticket episode first, and I happened to be in the same courtroom (w//my dad for my own ticket) when he finally went for the single ticket.
The DA mentioned the big ticket experience, and the judge told my friend to tell the court what happened. The longer the story went on, the more people started looking aroung shaking their heads....then he started telling what he got tickets for, and after about the 5th citation, everyone was looking around going "DAMN".
Of course the judge was looking at him like he had three heads...and when he got finished telling what happened, the judge let him stew for a minute, then said "What's wrong with you, kid, are you crazy or something?"
The whole court busted out laughing, and my friend was standing up w/his lawyer in front of everyone just hating life.
Needless to say, he didn't have a license for quite awhile.
Didn't make much difference in his driving, though.
BTW, he was driving a 1969 El Camino SS396....it was fast.

You think after the 18th time, he'd learn his lesson.

I think it was more of a case that he was caught on his 19th time rather than caught 18 times.

19 speeding tickets is only $1083?

Switzerland, what do you expect?

Actually Switzerland hates speeders (going back to the big F1 accident that occured in the 50's). I thought the fine would have been more like $10,000.
