Maybe that's just American vacuum cleaners. The ones in Canada have a vent on the back that always blows hot air. In regular house vacuums it's just a vent, but shop vacs make the in and out tubes the same shape so you can switch the hose from one end to the other. You can vacuum the shop, switch the hose to the other side, then use it as a blower.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to set a small gasoline fire then I'm going to have the vacuum cleaner blow air on it. The test is to see whether or not adding air makes it burn faster or slower

A lot of highly intelligent people will make typos in things off the cuff along with grammar mistakes.

A lot of people that aren't so intelligent focus on proper spelling and grammar at all times since they are so criticized to begin with.

Many also use spelling / grammar tools here so YMMV on either.

Spelling and grammar have nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with focusing on learning the rules behind it.

"Should of" is just one indicator. After observing some negative indicators, and I can't help but generate an impression of someone's general intelligence. Grammar does matter.

I definitely wouldn't say that poor grammar is "completely unrelated" to intelligence. That's just...

...DUMB.

The problem is when one is responding here they often are not focused on just the post. It's easy to be thinking or even talking to someone else while typing.

All I have to say is I have been around many with IQs at or beyond the genius level...including myself; many don't always spell things properly nor use the best grammar in general. Let them write up a paper or document and it's usually pretty damn flawless.

Growing up many of the underachievers were very good in English class. They'd win spelling bees and get the best marks on their essays.

Not many made it into the professional levels of career nor education.

There are simply good and bad writers. Ultimate intelligence has nothing to do with that.
