They would have needed to get the air marshals to drag my ass off the plane if this fool did this to my kid

(RNN) – The man accused of hitting a toddler on a Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta no longer has a job.

Al Haase, president and CEO of AGC Aerospace and Defense, Composites Group, said Joe Rickey Hundley was not with the company as of Sunday, according to the Associated Press. The AP reported Haase called the alleged behavior of the former company executive during a personal trip "disturbing."

Hundley, 60, of Hayden, ID, was charged with simple assault of 19-month-old Jonah Bennett after the Feb. 8 flight.

The boy's mother, 33-year-old Jessica Bennett, said Hundley smelled of alcohol and "told her to shut that (N-word) baby up," court records showed. She told KARE Hundley said another racial slur and slapped Jonah, scratching him below his right eye.

"I could not believe he would say something like that to a baby or about a baby and then to hit him," she said. "I felt like I was in another world. I was shaking."

She credited other passengers with coming to her aid and giving them another seat on the plane.

Jessica Bennett and her husband are white; their adopted son is black. John Thompson, the Bennett family attorney, said in a CNN interview the parents knew they would have to discuss the race issue but never expected to deal with anything this early in Jonah's life.

Hundley's employer initially suspended him after hearing of the alleged incident. A company spokesman would not say whether he resigned or was fired, only that the allegations were contradictory to the company's values.

Hundley's attorney said he plans to plead not guilty and asked the public not to rush to judgment, according to CNN.

From what I heard this morning, the baby was perfectly fine for the entire flight, but during descent, the change in pressure caused him to start crying and his mom tried to console him to no avail. Then this whackjob comes into the picture.

It's funny how people always complain about babies yet it seems it is always the drunk assholes that ruin flights and make the flight uncomfortable!

A crying baby on a plane? Wonder how many people on the aircraft were wishing they could slap the baby.

Without the racial slur, this guy would get a round of applause.

LOL! you're on crack. Crying babies have never bothered me on airplanes. I expect for it to happen, and regardless of if it happens or not, I use my headphones.

Pretty much this. My noise cancellation headphones (plus music or a movie) go on the moment I get on the plane.

not going to happen. doubt many were upset with the baby anyway. all reports said it just started on descent. anyone understands that its going to bother the kids.

you may want it to hush but NOBODY is going to clap over smacking a child . add in a fact that it was not his and he is lucky nobody kicked his ass.

only someone with mental issues would applaud a stranger smacking a child.

Were it my kid, I would have knocked out all of his goddamned teeth. He'd live out his days with what's left of his jaw permanently wired to his cracked skull.

You're a moron. Being cruel to babies or their parents does absolutely nothing to help. If a baby is crying and won't stop, you can bet there is no one on the plane more miserable than the parents. Most people understand this and realize that sitting through a few hours on a plane isn't that horrible, especially when they only have to take care of themselves and don't have to worry about a small child.

Those who don't understand this are, ironically, very much like the children they disparage. They're actually worse though, because they are adults. Babies can't really help it.

if it started only on descent, he probably got that angry just because he's an uncontrolled drunkard while normal people don't unless it goes on and on all night, and even then you don't scold other people's kids if their parents are already trying to fix it, period, and in an airplane the parents are the first victims of the noise so there's no need to even think about it at all unless the kid is kicking your seat and they say nothing. Besides, this was a 2 hours 30 minutes flight according to google, so there's no reason to get angry at all even if he began crying the time they got on the plane. Just use in-ear headphones for 2 hours and you're fine.

Also how is that baby black?

When has smacking a 19 month old child in the face ever made it quiet? I am all for spanking a child, but at 19 months, the child is likely crying cause it's ears are popping, not cause it wants to be annoying. Slapping it in the face is not likely to stop it from crying. And like waggy, if that happen to my child, I would be serving an assault sentence right now.

He should be charged with a hate crime.

Dumbest shit ever.

Anything bad I could cocievably do to another human being would be motivated by hate. As it is with most all violent crime.

'I cracked his skull because he looked at me funny.'

'I cracked his skull because he was a n*gger f*ggot.'

Do those constitute two different crimes? Really?

Same here although one of my top annoyances in life is ignorant dickheads who think it is ok taking a baby of less than 6 months on a sleeper flight.

One crime is motivated by race. The other is not.

So yes, they are two different crimes.

People don't normally slap kids for being "N*gger" babies.

He's 19 months old!
