I just dug up an old "Capcom Fighter Power Stick" that I forgot that I had. It has a removable cable to convert to snes or nes systems. I would like to convert it to work with my pc, and I have found sites that show how to convert it using the parallel port. Is there any other method?

The back of the unit has a 14 pin mail connector that you plug either an NES or SNES cable into. Here are some pics:
