MAM on P4P800 - what does it do?

Has anyone/website figured out exactly what MAM does? Someone said it lowers the timings on RAM but they are still reported the same in Windows (cpuZ) regardless of whether it is on or off.

Thanks

If I remember correctly it's basically a hack that Asus implemented in in the 865pe boards that mimics Intel's PAT (Performance Acceleration Technology). As far as I know it does mess with the memory timings but I don't know exactly what it changes and how much of a boost it will give you. I think I remember reading that PAT would give you a 5-7% boost so I guess MAM would give you a similar boost.

If things are working smooth, it basically trusts that certain issues in memory go through fast and well - you "skip" two memory registers, which allows things to move through faster. I think tom's did a brief technology overview when they first tested the 875 chipset... they have a graphic from intel that shows a basic idea of what they do.
