Malware / Anti-Virus Live_CD

A friend of mine has a bad case malware (possibly more). I sent her instructions for combofix, but she says that wont even run.

I'll be hands on with the laptop tonight.

Any recommendations for a program or live recovery CD that I can start off with to rid of the bulk of the infestation?

You can try the
Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10
or
Superantispyware Portable in safe mode. its a .com file as most bad virus/malware will hijack the .exe from running


but you should be able to run combofix in safe mode

Be a hero and go to her house and reformat her computer. If you can't do that fellow Dahak advice. If you have problems with kaspersky use bitdefenders rescue disk

Looks like rootkit or a backdoor Trojan infection these malware are very hard to remove.

Thanks the help. In an 11-hr marathon, the Kaspersky disc was able to rid the system of 75 infections.

All running smoothly now. Will format and re-install Windows this weekend to be on the safe side.
