I was in a mall the other day for the first time in ages, dropping off a rented tux for a wedding I went to this past weekend, and got a clear reminder of why I don't go to malls anymore..

I'd write my own original rant about it, but since I suck at the ranting, I thought I'd steal Xavier434's response here..

Dude, don't get me started on Halloween. I work inside a mall as a T-Mobile sales rep. half my pay is commission, so I was already pissed off about handing candy out to the lines of kids that were coming through our store as I was trying to help customers. I can understand why parents take their kids to malls to tricker or treat, but I'm in the middle of a fucking conversation with a customer and kids keep interrupting me for fucking candy. And to top it off I saw many 'kids' that were old enough to drive, aka THEY SHOULDN'T BE FUCKING TRICK OR TREATING GOD DAMNIT....

You get no sympathy from me for being interrupted by some kids going trick or treating at your mall one night of the year. T-Mobile and other cell phone sales reps have interrupted me as I am walking through the mall minding my own business countless times as they ask me what cell phone company I am with as if I want to tell them. Cell phone reps are very pushy in the malls I go to and I cannot stand it when any sales rep approaches me before I approach them unless all they want to say to me is "Can I help you?" while I am staring at their products. Instead, they practically block my path as I am walking past by sticking their arms out with fliers and trying to pull me next to their stands. I know you guys are just doing your job and all, but I really do hate all of you and your company's business practice. I used to enjoy window shopping so much more before all of these sales reps and multi level marketing carts in the middle of the aisles have polluted the malls.

Well said..

Sure, I love to drive to the most congested part of town and park a long way from an overblown building so I can shoulder my way through obnoxious crowds to pay full retail and help stores pay their overpriced rent.

You probably know better than I do, but it is still T-Mobile's business practice. Many companies use third party sales reps and distributors that are not pressured to market the products this way. Others are forced to do it if they want to keep their job. In any case, the problem is there and it pisses me off. Malls used to more fun before this trend in business.

We don't have any control over the business practices of our third-party sales partners. In fact, I would bet that marketing doesn't even know that these partners are that annoying. Honestly, when people do things like that, I would suggest finding out what actual company they work for and then calling T-Mobile to complain about that partner's practice.

Honestly, I would be willing to take the time to call T-Mobile and inform them about this stuff just to lend a helping hand (not in a bitchy customer way) in hopes of improving the malls near me for everyone. The only problem is that I do not believe I would be able to get the attention of the right person at T-Mobile who would take action. If it possible, I don't know how. Calling customer service is not the way to go.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a reason to go to the mall, I end up there around christmas buying useless trinkets to fulfil some sort of gift obligation that I've drawn a blank on.

The largest mall in Burlington is the University mall...and its entry way was designed by a sadistic prick. Its one of those things where the guy designing it must have thought "ooooo! This will look kind of good on a map...but work horrible when cars try to drive on it! I got my job because I'm probably the mayor's brother!" I've occasionally thought about looking up who designed and approved this thing so I could drive to their house, ring their doorbells and punch them in the ballsack.

How many different clothing chains that all sell the same stuff does the planet need honestly?

And if you thought old people drove slow, you're now about the see the sequel: Old people walking

And christmas time is the worst, its like a bunch of dirty desperate pesants from the middle ages fighting their way to the moldy bread wagon in every store. Its times like those that I realize if I was actually given a super power like laser beam eyes I'd probably become a super villian instead of a super hero.

i went earlier this week during my lunch break. it was the greatest shopping experience i've ever had. parking was a cinch, checking-out was quick, and getting out of there was a piece of cake. im now convinced thats the only way ill go to a mall.

Sounds like the malls I was used to going to while growing up except it was like this 24/7 with exception of maybe on Saturday afternoons. Still, at least back then the centers of the aisles were open without all of these carts and stands. That allowed a lot of people free room to walk instead of being packed in like sheep.

i hate the mall, its pretty useless, i went there a few weeks ago to get some new shirts, which was pointless, 90% of the stores dont have anything in a normal size, it would be understandable if they were selling clothes to people in some starving country, i not fat but i think the last time i could fit into a pair of pants with a 28-30 inch waste was when i was 12,

the place was crowded with more annoying ass teens on their cellphones dressed like whores then ive ever seen before,

only good thing about malls is they Dpt stores are then and they are generally usefull, i was able to find lots of nice stuff at sears for 40-60% off and i got some tools :)

and then on the way out the greatest thing happened, i got to see a fight and it was amazing, 2 thug wannabe white HS mongloid looking kids were just beating on each other, they went fist for fist for a good 2 min before security came and stoped it, they were both pretty messed up, no idea what they were fighting about but it was entertaining

i must agree. i try very hard *not* to go to the mall on the weekends. that is the worst time for droves of tweens walking around, texting, chewing gum, and carrying their Hollister bags.

luckily we also have strip malls which aren't so appealing to them.

It all depends on the mall. One mall near me, Brentwood, has 3 major department stores (Zellers, Sears, London Drugs) and a liquor store. That covers off a lot of my needs. Parking is good, and the mall is never all that busy.

Metrotown OTOH, is a fucking zoo. Multiple levels of expansive underground parking, lots of traffic (right off Kingsway) and multiple locations of everything. Home Outfitters? Source/Circuit City? There are two locations of each of those, at opposite ends of the mall on different levels. And they seem to have different inventory. FFS, why can't there just be one location to check?

I'm doing as much of my Christmas shopping as possible online this year.

I went to mall last night to pick something up....big mistake. It was packed, and I get very uncomfortable in large crowds.

When I have children, Im not taking them to the mall for halloween. They're going to go trick-or-treating on the street like I did when I was a kid. Taking the kids to the mall for halloween is really shorting the kids on what halloween is really about.

This is why people need more holiday spirit. All neighborhoods should be filled with their kids trick or treating.

You make a very good point. Let me look into this.

Have you ever been to the Mall in Waldorf MD? I went there one halloween and got the bejeebus scared outta me just by the local teens. That place is downright scary even when it isn't halloween.

I like going to the mall. I don't shop there but there is this mall that I go to with lots of great eye candy. Theres also another closer to where I live but of the ghetto variety candy.

Hell I'm 20 years old and I'm afraid of all the punk teen agers when I go to the nearest mall (basically in the middle of a trailer park). Usually, I'll go to the one that's 15 minutes away and in a better part of town (and it's bigger with better stores).
