Mall where white people shop, and the mall where white people used to shop

Does anyone else have this in their town? I didn't think much of it until I heard Chris Rock talk about it and he hit it head on lol.

In Shreveport there are 2 malls. Pierre Bossier used to be the big mall in town. Then they had a gang shooting inside. The whities quit shopping there and most of the stores went out of business or moved. The ones that stayed were black consumer oriented and more black oriented ones moved in. So now the mall is pretty much black oriented.

Mall St. Vincient is the new mall where the white people shop.

Same thing is happening in my town. We have a mall but the whities are always bitchin' about the people loitering inside. The stereotyped black males with the do rags and baggy clothes. Generally scaring/making folks uneasy.

So they are building another mall, where undoubtedly they will have a strong no loitering policy and put it in the "nice" part of town.

Is this generally a trend? Chris Rock went on about black supermarkets, etc. It was pretty funny, but at the same time seemed overly true. Didn't know if it's like this everywhere or just in the south.

its just a class thing. generally better off people don't like to shop where low class people hang around😛

Well, around here it's not because something happened at one mall, but just that another was built...we had Oakland, which the younger people would go to since they couldn't afford Somerset South, and then they built the North building, which has much more affordable stores, so all of a sudden, you just had most of the black people left at Oakland.

No, it's more like white people are accepting of blacks, it's the blacks that don't want to accept the whites. That's the way it is around here. The blacks want equality, but will only associate with blacks and will not even try to talk to a white person.

In S. FL it's not very common. About the only one I can think of is the pompano fashion square. Used to be a big mall, booming part of town, then it fell behind the times.

The other malls have mostly reinvented themselves with the tiems. They attract a fairly balanced crowd or very rich crowd, but, there aren't any 'ghetto' malls in the broward/palm beach county area that I'm familiar with. Most of the lowerincome folk seem to shop at strip malls or kmart/walmart places I guess, from my observations.

I tend to avoid the malls myself, they are generally very expensive for the same things I can buy at other places--albeit not quite as trendy.

Yep, major mall here in a fairly upscale town, always had predominantly white shoppers. To build mall traffic they started running free shuttle buses down to the inner city areas a town away. Giant backfire, mall traffic dropped as the mall turned into the #1 location in the police blotter section of the local paper. So now that mall is far more ethnic and the stores have taken a turn from Victoria's Secret and Sharper Image to "Everything for a Buck" and other places that make Walmart look classy. A different mall about 15 miles away is the new upscale place.

It's sad, but people actually do think like this.

I agree, the new mall in Shreveport is much nicer and that's where I shop when I go there. I think it is more class and education than anything. Walking around the mall I see people of all different races, but you don't see as many of your typical thugs, whatever color they may be.

There are bad parts of town, Shreveport has them I know, that I just do not feel comfortable in. My friend and I were driving around there one night near the casinos and someone started yelling at us in an SUV next to us. We were at a stop light, and the guy next to us got out of the vehicle with a baseball bat in hand. I made a quick right and got the hell out of there. I shop at the new stores in the "nice" part of town so I don't have to put up with people like that (btw the guy was white).

In Dallas, it's sort of a class thing, one of the South Dallas suburbs I lived in can't even keep the movie theatres near the "black mall" open because of the gang-related violence & other behavior problems.

The other malls are a more healthy mix of class/race, seem to stratify to more white/other minorities the further North in Dallas one goes.

What the hell are you talking about?

Oh, apparently you live in Beverly Hills. You do realize that LA extends farther than 5 miles from the Wilshire district, right? Or maybe not. I've noticed people in N/W Los Angeles don't really know what goes on in their city.

"Upper Class" areas in LA include: West LA, North Santa Monica, Brentwood, Bel Air / Bevery Hills, Beach Cities, Palos Verdes Peninsula (PVE, RPV, RHE, RH), Palisades, Malibu...pretty much all areas on the outer perimiter.

"Lower Class" areas include: Wilmington, Harbor City, South LA, Central LA (the entire area bordered by 10 / 405 / 110 / 105, Inglewood, Compton -- pretty much any place bordered by or adjacent to freeways. Also chances are if it has "park" in the name or is named after a president, it is a sketchy area. Oh, and Rampart district. That place is dangerous.

Upper class malls: Westside Pavilion, Beverly Center, Santa Monica Place (borderline), Avenue, Beverly Connection

Mid/Lower class malls: Crenshaw Plaza (is it still open?) Del Amo Mall (one of North America's top 5 largest malls) is the biggest and only major mall with a high number of lower class customers, but it still has some high end shops.

Its good for blacks and whites to have their own shopping malls. I suspect Jerry Curl and Afrosheen products, afrocentric clothering stores with the huge gaudy hats and foil/sequin laden fashions straight out of the 1930s, don't do well in predominantly white communities.

Ever notice the parking lots in these areas? Not a single person returns their shopping carts or puts them in the cart-style. They just leave them all over the freaking place, along with broken Ripple and Malt Liquor bottles smashed on the pavement. Always some guy trying to sell something in the parking lot.

So yes, its a good thing I don't have to patron these areas because they're disgusting.

you obviously haven't been to the NASCAR prank thread.
that's indicative of how a good portion of whites are, myself not included.

Yep, I noticed the same thing too as lifer said. My white friend just placed an AIM away message up, it reads:

"Remember, guns don't kill people. Dangerous minorities do."

That really surprised me, since he's a smart, respectable guy and that message, joking or not, just says the opposite about him. He has lots of friends, but I don't think I've ever seen him talk to a black person, and at my college, there are a lot of black people.

WOW!!!:Q

Are you the same guy surveyed in this thread?

Out by me there are very few people who aren't White. It annoys the hell out of me because the closest mall where it is hard to find a White person is Arizona Mills. I'm originally from Stockton, CA and I'm far more used to having gangs and minorities going through the mall than White people every where. White people in large numbers scare me!

yay...another racial thread!!!

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I go to whatever mall has the stores I want to go to, and whichever is closest
