Using it for software development, database work, office apps, and browsing. Adding my own SSD to it as the OS drive. Is there anything comparable in the same price range?

$1200 for the laptop (i7-2630QM, 16GB ram, GF GTX 560M, 320GB 7.2k rpm, upgrade to 95% color gamut AUO Optronics V.4 15.6" matte display[1920x1080], 6.7lbs)
$189 for the OCZ Vertex 3

Only downside is below avg. battery life and no Optimus support.

I have a Sager NP8130 and I love it. I haven't regretted it for a second. The 5165 was a close second, so I'm sure you'll love that as well. 🙂
