Malfunctioning USB Ports

I have an A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard with a GeForce 6600 GT Card and a V92 modem on board. After 6 months, my USB ports do not work. I think I have tried everything: uninstalling all USB software, system restore, switching cables, etc. When the system is restarted, All USB is loaded except the USB driver, 2.0. When using the ASUS disc for installation, I receive the message that the software is in Windows XP SP2 or later and can't be loaded from the disc. the chipset fan went bad and I received another one in the mail. InDevice Manager, under USB Controller, everything is functioning properly except one. This is where I see "Device error". Also, upon restarting the machine, the Windows message is "Device error. Windows does not recognize device".confused;
