This week's MediaPlay Sunday ad lists the 3-disc set of Malcolm in the Middle Season 1 at $26.99, which in itself is a great deal (BestBuy has it for $29.99, DeepDiscountDVD has it for $28.76). However, also on that very same page the copy "Save an additional $10 instantly when you purchase ANY of these featured TB voxed DVD sets. Sale prices shown are before $10 deduction"
I ran over to the local MediaPlay and grabbed my copy of Malcom (on the shelf with a sale price of $26.99) and went to the check-out. The set rung up at the sale price of $26.99. I asked the check-out clerk about the "$10 off TV boxed sets" he shrugged, called a manager, manager and him went through the book of promotional barcodes (how the store enters discounts) and couldn't find a "$10 off TV boxed sets." Manager kind-a shrugged and just took $10 off the price, yield $16.99. So YMMV, but the usually have a ton of ads at the store, and it shouldn't be hard at all to show them the ad (page 6) and argue for your $10 off.
Is this the new MediaPlay, has the BestBuy buy-out of MusicLand changed things? After the Rock Criterion Deal, their new price-matching policy, and hired help that <GASP> wants to help...perhaps it is indeedy a new day at MediaPlay - oh what a glorious day!
