man I haven't been able to convince myself to go to the gym at all this week. How do you guys motivate yourselves? The hotties in tight gym shorts aren't cutting it for me anymore.

I look at the obese, dying, decrepid people around me who waddle through life and think "Not me. Never me." And suddenly it's easier.

I agree with that, or just something constructive, in general. Damn, the idea of paying to exercise makes me cringe. Why not get paid to exercise? It's fall, go rake leaves in your neighborhood for $100.00 per day or so? Fresh air, meet your neighbors, lots of exercise, make some money... BE CONSTRUCTIVE!

how long have you been working out? once you see some results, it'll motivate you to go.

well ski season starts soon so I'll probably go with that...I just don't get the same results from sports as I do from working out.

I look at my closet of new clothing,I think about how much more energy I have now and about how hard it was to get to this level of fitness. That "motivates" me right into my sneakers :)

i was squatting at 4:30 A.M. this morning.

there are no hotties in tight gym shorts at that time, just 45 lb. plates, empty squat racks, & me.

i go because i want to lift BIG iron.

I go with baffled here. I have lost about 8 " from my waist since I started in January because I have gone hardcore, believe me, when you see results there's no lack of motivation.

I'm not at all for the gym, except if I had a significant other who was fond of it or we both decided to exercise together.

My belief is the keep it simple and fun type. If you aren't willing to do something as simple as jogging or taking a walk, then you've got issues. You don't have to be in the gym to achieve this. And in that case, we know where those foods you eat out everyday is going. Take a simple walk or jog before you worry about motivation to go to the gym (perhaps to lift weights). No one can drive you to go to the gym, except maybe a persistent significant other or family members or if you perceived it as a place to take a break from a troubled household. And from what I read earlier, your significant other doesn't reside with you.

Ditto, since there aren't too many hotties that go to my gym.

Yeah, wait . . . don't bother to do basic things like walk or jog. Wait for the magical skiing. I'm sure your body loves procrastination and making up for it later.
