Making your own movies on SVCD, is it technically possible to make SVCD 640x480 instead of 480x480?

Okay so I'm making a video with Microsoft Movie Maker and I save it as a 640x480 ASF file. I then use TMPGEnc to encode it to MPEG2 (didn't touch any settings. i just loaded up the SVCD NTSC template). Then I use Nero to burn it to SVCD. Everything plays fine but then the sides get chopped off on the screen. This bites because a lot of the pictures I took to make the movie had people on the edges. Is there anyway around this?

it shouldn't be chopping off anything to get to 480 480, it should resize. and bitrate for svcd is barely adequate for 480 480, 640x480 is pushing it.

When I attemtped to make my own, it actually cut off the top half... I was told that was my fault. Not sure tho...

Hm I don't know why I didn't see this before but the MPG file that TMPEGEnc makes plays fine on my computer. No sides chopped off. Then I figured Nero might be the problem but playing the SVCD back using WinDVD is fine as well. THen it must means my DVD player or TV is chopping off the sides. Anyone know what's the dealio?
