Making XP look like Vista

Can anyone tell me what's the best way now to transform XP visually to look like Vista? The method that works the best and is the most complete, ie. includes Vista login screens and everything.

Thanks.

Upgrade to Vista. 😕

Thanks Canterwood.

Does anyone know how VTP compares with BricoPack Vista Inspirat? From my searching it seems these are the two everyone is using, but there's conflicting reports about which one works better.

When I tried going back to XP last fall I installed VTP. It was meh. Most of it visually was right on, but it didnt make XP behave as well as Vista 😉 It was new clothes on an old dog hehe.

As a side note...I really like the layout of Vista, so I also installed Yahoo widgets with XP. With those two installed my memory usage was within 50MB of Vista's.

My advice-buy Vista.

Agreed. I had XP Pro Sp2 with VTP and Vista U32 performs much better. XP always seemed bogged down with the entire transformation pack installed.

Well I'm giving my old computer to my nephew and I don't feel like buying him Vista, but I wanted to spice it up for him a bit. I ended up trying Vista Tranformation Pack and while it looked ok, within a minute I found some buggy behavior... Nvidia control panel text was missing. I know that if I found bugs that quick there would likely be lots more. So I uninstalled it.

I ended up just installing the Zune desktop them, which is basically just a black XP them with an orange start button. Something different from the standard XP color schemes anyway, and doesn't break anything.

You might give this a try. I don't think you can replicate the Vista look, but it looks like you can spice things up quite a bit.

MORPH, if you want a Vista style them thats doesn't break anything then try THIS.

Its quite similar to Vista, its FREE, and I use it myself, so can vouch it works ok. 🙂

Thank you, man, that one is excellent. I had been playing with the themes at DeviantArt and couldn't find any I liked. But this one is perfect.

If anyone else wants to try this theme, you have to patch your uxtheme.dll file. I used a patcher from here.
